I'm having a bit of an "Ah Fuck" moment. I've heard back from 5 of the 6 universities I applied to so far. I've already ruled one out, but that leaves 4. They've ALL given me interview dates, and although thankfully they're all on different days, they're also ALL within the next week or two. Which, as you know, is the time when I'll be in London helping my brother and dad move out, or back here, moving us to our new place. In other words, taking days out to go to these interviews is gonna be downright impossible. All I can think to do is call each of them up and try to arrange different dates. But it's a pain... why must everything always happen all at once? ::Growl::

Yesterday was pretty good. We were invited over to see the new house again and to chat with the current owners. It sure is a big house... five bedrooms! Kinda crazy when you think that only my mom and I will be living there... and my brother perhaps occasionally. But much of the year, if my brother and I both go off to Uni, my mom will be there by herself in a huge 5-bedroom house o.o It's crazy!! But it IS a nice house... and best of all, it's right in the heart of a VERY English little village, which is just what my mom has wanted, to get as far from London city life as possible. There's virtually no street-lighting in the village, which means very little light pollution - you can actually see the stars at night! Amazing! And the village church is absolutely beautiful. It really is the epitome of a country village, complete with local farm shop, village hall, and lots and lots of open fields and farmland ^^; Moo.

So, that was nice. Seeing the village, I think it's the right choice, even if the house is a little big for us ^^; Sooo... after that, we came home and I went out to get Chinese for us. God, I swear I'm a walking hazard x.o I can't count the number of times I tripped, or nearly tripped, or bumped into something or someone on that 3 minute walk to the Chinese place. Clumsy and klutzy doesn't even begin to describe me. I am forever tripping over my own tails feet. Just a forewarning - if you ever spend the day with me, prepare to hear an awful lot of "sorry!" "whoops!" "ack!" "oww!" and so on... n.n; That's just the way it is with me.

Ooo! I was reading New Scientist the other day (brilliant mag, that, bringing science and technology information to the masses!), and lately there's been a lot of talk about the pioneering new technology that allows amputees to receive working limbs that can actually feel! That is to say, they'll actually feel a sensation in their new limb, as if it were their own. It allows them to move the artificial limb just by thinking about it, naturally. It's done by rewiring nerves and such, in the chest in this one example to provide sensation to a new hand. I don't recall the exact intricacies of the procedure, but I do recall thinking "how COOL!".

... and then of course it got me to thinking. If they're moving towards being able to do that, how long before this is available on the commercial market? You know what I'm thinking here... I've had this conversation with at least a couple of people on my friends list. How long before instead of only being able to replace sensation of limbs that once existed, they can apply this technology to wire new extensions to the human body. People would do it. There are already body modification fans who go as far as to have surgery to sharpen their fangs/implant fangs, implant horns on their head, or even create a cat-like cleft in the upper lip, and whiskers through the cheeks (although the guy who had the cat mouth done has severe problems with eating, due to his lip n.n;). I'm sure that once the technology is available for even greater modifications, it won't be long before we see people go 'all the way' to have a real working tail, or wings.

I'm not sure if I'm fascinated by the prospect or terrified. Maybe a little of both. But it's certainly food for thought.

Finally, before I close this, I'd like to share this with you. A comment that was left on my Valentine LJ post, from someone too cowardly to leave any contact details or more of a name than 'Sam'. But here it is:

You disgust me in every single way.

He's a cartoon character that hops on robots' heads, not some YAOI!!!! ^_____^ KAWA11 shit.

-Sam

Well there we have it, folks. A word of warning. Whilst most of us save our genuine disgust for all the truly despicable acts of injustice in the world, people like 'Sam' are upset by expressions of fandom that don't fit in with his/her concept of how fandom should be expressed. I dread to think what will happen when he/she steps outside that cosy little bubble and realizes that OH NOEZ!! there's a whole WORLD out there of people who are... gasp! ... not ALL the same! They've got a real shock coming :P

And on that note, I'm out! ::Whoosh::

Thanks ^^ ::Hugs:: Yeah, it'll be really nice to be away from all of London's smog and light-pollution and actually be able to see the night sky!
