Have been back from cruise for a few days. The ship spent most of the journey trying to stay one step ahead of Hurricane Irene, so the seas were kinda choppy and the weather was pretty bad. Still it was good and I'll post about it sometime.

Power's been out here in NJ ever since we got back, due to Irene. It's been 3 days without power and hot water so far. Cellar was flooded with 8 inches of water. Finally yesterday we got a gas power generator so we could drain the cellar with the sump pump, so we were finally able to reignite the pilot light for hot water today and use the generator to get the fridge/freezer back running etc (we'd been using an ice box and bags of ice from the store previously). At night, the house glows with candles and gas lanterns. In absence of my computer I've read 2 great books in 2 days, so it's not all bad. The generator is a noisy beast however. At least I can charge my iPhone in Jei's car and update this way :P

Finally, but most crucially, an update on my mum. She had her mastectomy last week. She's been home a little while but had to go back into hospital today because of hemorraging and infection which has her in a lot of pain, worry and discomfort. My only means of contact with her is via text message as we've not had power here and now she's at the hospital for potentially a few days. I'm worried sick about her. I'll update more as soon as I know more.

I really hope we get power back soon. Scaredy-cat fox hates the dark dark nights and also really needs to do some laundry ^^;

I hope everyone is well and not too displaced by Irene if it hit your area. Hugs to all. Laters.

edit: OMG amazing news!!! My mum just texted from the hospital after having her infection drained and antibiotics... They also gave her pathology report from the surgery regarding chemotherapy: she doesn't have to have it!! she said she'll explain later but she won't need chemotherapy just hormone therapy! She was SO happy and so am I! It's horrible that she had to have two major ops, lose her breast, get this infection and suffer all this fear and stress but finally GOOD news!! Omg. Eee!

My mum has cancer. Both lumps in her breast are cancerous and there's a third in her other breast that hadn't been found until now that seems like it might potentially be cancerous too. She won't find out about what type it is until Monday week, but she'll be definitely having surgery some time in July.

I'm worried, of course, but I can't think the worst or break down. Some uplifting, hopeful or inspirational input would be great right now, however.

Those of you attending SoS, have a great time. I'm sorry that I won't get to say hi to you this year. I'll watch in on the livestream if I get a chance <3

Gyah! I live, I live! Although I don't have a computer right now... The power pack for it died about a week ago, so I'm using my phone to update.

Not that I've had much to say. Miles has been fronting for the past two weeks solid. I didn't even know it was possible for him to be around that long without a break, but the fact is that he's had 'control' since February 8th, and I only just got back today.

But I'm not fussed. I needed the break and I feel better now. I don't feel threatened by what happened because I kinda... let it. I couldn't deal with the intensity of my winter illness and Miles had something to prove, I guess. More power to him. If he's a coping mechanism, he's a damn good one.

But more so, he's just a person with different strengths and weaknesses from me. I respect him a lot more now. Lol, but I figured it might be a good time to swap back in now, 'cause he's been wasting my phone bandwidth by obsessively refreshing sites with info about the Scourge-based arc that's coming up next in Sonic Universe @_@; Aieee. Scourge arc. Yippee! I'm happy anyway, even if certain other people are irritable and paranoid :P

ANYWAY. In other news, Jei's family aren't going to be able to come over to the UK for her graduation ;_; Which also means our wedding has to be postponed, since they wouldn't be able to be here for it... But my mum and I will be there for her graduation, and I think there's an online live-stream for it, so they'll still get to watch.

Also, her 'rents are amazing. As a graduation gift, they're taking us (Jei and I) on a 9 night cruise to the Caribbean in August O.O Bermuda, Puerto Rico, St Tomas and St Maarten! On the Voyager class vessel Explorer of the Seas. It's the most amazing cruise liner I have EVER seen! It has an entire indoor highstreet, an ice rink, rollerblading circuit, library, nightclub, outdoor and indoor pools, a dozen restaurants... Even a rock-climbing wall! And most amazing of all, Jei's family are paying for it all, including my ticket! I'm so excited I can hardly breathe XD It's something amazing to look forward to after this stark winter.

So, um, yes. Now I'm going to go back to playing Paper Mario <3 It's good to be back.
