Truth is, I'm trying to figure out what to do first this morning, and back in the day, I'd boot up Livejournal (or Dreamwidth) and hash out my thoughts there. I really, actually think that I stumbled upon a self-regulating technique by accident when I blogged regularly as a youngin'. And when I stopped doing that... well, I've managed, but why not bring it back! I love blogging!!! Why have I stopped!!!

So! Things on my mind this morning, both office-related and home-related... I don't necessarily have to finish everything today, just the urgent ones... which I'll mark with an asterisk...

Very important reminder to myself though: stop working by 6pm.
I tried to extend up to about 8pm yesterday, but woof, that exhausted me.
Just because I still have gas in the tank doesn't mean I need to use it up.

Right, I think I'll go ahead and actually act on these, haha. Often I wonder if this is interesting at all to people, but then I think about myself and how I am interested in reading what my friends are up to... so why do I question myself so often?

*realizes it's been a month since I last casually posted something*

... gee wiz. I sure do have time distortion!

Instead of once again pressuring myself into typing up The Blog to End All Blogs, I just thought saying hi would be... nice enough!

Let's see, uh... my partner and I have been trying to spend more time outside (sometimes means spending money, but a lot of times involves spending money--which we're willing to do! Just means we have to adjust our budget, or put savings goal targets farther into the future, aheh. I'm trying to live more in the now than being too scared about the future? Not that we haven't set aside stuff for the future... things have been... wild the past decade, eh?)

I've been trying very much to declutter the office unit so whatever's in it really is directly aligned to "running a printshop smoothly" primarily, "a place I can stream comfortably" second, and "a place where I can work on art (and maybe art merch)" third. Which means having to face the clutter I have once again accumulated for Idealized!Me Who Definitely Has the Time and Energy and Creativity to Do ALL The Creative Projects one day! (ONE DAY) and just... biting the bullet and accepting the losses on those.

(Because the longer I keep stuff on hand "because I could earn a bit of money from them!" the longer I put them off and the more hoarded the space is gonna become and AUGHHH YES I can try to sell em but I've set up a deadline and once I hit it THEY MUST GO GO GO GO they are NOT paying their weight in rent!)

Note to self: try not to overwork tonight, the Blood Moon is predicted to arrive between Wednesday to Saturday, and you have a TON of orders left to complete for this week's events. Wew.

Oh! My partner and I started the Zero Escape series on New Year's Eve with 999, and we finished the last game in the series (Zero Time Dilemma) last week, if I remember correctly. Had that series on my to-play list for a long time and I'm glad we finally got to play it! I'll dump my thoughts on each game... someday. Which isn't today. But maybe if I say so here, I'll remember to talk about it next time I land on Dreamwidth again!

I keep forgetting to post about this: we've been troubleshooting the "missing notifications" problem for the past few days. (Well, I say "we", really I mean Mark and Robby; I'm just the amanuensis.) It's been one of those annoying loops of "find a logical explanation for what could be causing the problem, fix that thing, observe that the problem gets better for some people but doesn't go away completely, go back to step one and start again", sigh.

Mark is hauling out the heavy debugging ordinance to try to find the root cause. Once he's done building all the extra logging tools he needs, he'll comment to this entry. After he does, if you find a comment that should have gone to your inbox and sent an email notification but didn't, leave him a link to the comment that should have sent the notification, as long as the comment itself was made after Mark says he's collecting them. (I'd wait and post this after he gets the debug code in but I need to go to sleep and he's not sure how long it will take!)

We're sorry about the hassle! Irregular/sporadic issues like this are really hard to troubleshoot because it's impossible to know if they're fixed or if they're just not happening while you're looking. With luck, this will give us enough information to figure out the root cause for real this time.

Intentional loose ends and cringe (featuring me defending tadc because someone has to)

Thank you thank you thank you to this video. I feel like people went from "omg Vivziepop sucks TADC IS SUPERIOR" to "omg TADC is soooooooo cringe" over time when TADC refused to cater to their very specific writing demands. Gooseworx making an innocuous statement like "Pomni and Jax are the main characters" alone got her harassed to fucking hell. "OH NOES SHE'Z SIDELINING THE OTHER CHARACTERS!!!1!1" (Newsflash: having secondary and tertiary characters is NOT a sliding scale of the author's character preferences. This is Fiction 101.) "OMG GOOSEWORX IS MISOGYNISTIC BC SHE FAVORS THE HORRIBLE JERK JAX OVER RAGATHA" (Ragatha has had tons of character development throughout the show, and the audience doesn't consider that her being sidelined is likely intentional as commentary on how Ragatha's hollow niceness/toxic positivity is pushing everyone away) (Also misogynistic? lololololol what are Pomni and Gangle, chopped liver? Queenie could've just remained the offscreen dead wife, but nope! She's even got her own merch now!) And god, I really do believe all the sudden backlash against popular indie animation comes from internalized sexism, ableism, and LGBTQphobia from fans calling themselves leftist/liberal. Uggggggh.

It's like people are making it their entire identities to despise "cringe" while dressing it up as social justice ("Oh no, I don't just hate this comic because I find it stupid, it's also totally homophobic and dangerous for the gay community, guys!" See: the "Boyfriends" drama) That'd be like finding the Super Mario Bros. Super Show dumb, but going out of your way to say it's classist and dangerous to the reptuation of Italians when it's just an innocuous cartoon. Hell, the entire reason I stopped watching Pokemon movies despite liking the Zoroark movie (the furthest I've gone) was because I didn't want to make bitching about the ones I didn't like my entire personality. I was sick of ranting about the same issues I had with them over and over, and the frustration was honestly draining me. Hell, even talking about the same fandom drama more than once exhausts me, which is why I blocked/muted the LISA Confessions Twitter despite it probably being the only place LISA fandom is currently active. (One such drama is, surprise surprise, "yaoislop is cringe.") To quote the many DND Horror Story channels I listen to: "No DND is better than bad DND."

tl;dr TADC is an awesome and amazingly written show, and I can't wait for the final episode. I ought to get Caine icons now that I have a Paid Account. :D

Thank fucking GOD for this video. This is so refreshing to watch after going down the rabbit hole of Hellaverse hatedom and the way they demonize Stolitz and Stolas for being PrObLeMaTiK. Hell, let me copy-paste the comment I wrote for the video:
