~Are you ready for the big one? READY!~
Nov. 28th, 2007 09:32 pmMy job is going pretty well. It's quite interesting, getting to do basic administration, password and PIN control, remote access, permissions troubleshooting etc. It did make me briefly wonder about pursuing network/database administration at a higher level as a career option, but I think I might get bored after a while, when the novelty wears off. I do like geeky stuff, but I also like variety and being creative, and I've also noticed that the central admin team seem to mostly end up as grumpy sods as a result of all the pressure on them and all the people pestering them all day XD; Nevertheless, I'm still kind of in "Ooo!" mode after learning how to Tivoli onto a client's computer and troubleshoot their problems remotely n.n; Simple things...
I was thinking also that it might be a good idea to really think about a career path that doesn't involve computers. So far, all of my big ideas have been computer-related, and for the longest time I've really wanted to take up web-design and/or 3D animation. But at the end of the day, I think perhaps that would be overkill, even for me. I mean, I spend my LIFE on the computer. Right now, I'm on the computer for eight hours at work, and then at least another four in the evening at home. That's 12 hours per day (eh, mathematical genius, eh EH?), and even more at weekends, which is... perhaps a little excessive. Even for me.
There's so much I want to do! And the irony is that now that I have the money, I don't have the time :P But that's alright. I'll find the time.
One thing I really want to do is get my bi-plane licence. I have to rack up at least 40 hours of flying (or was it 45?) to even get a basic licence. I flew at Redhill before, but obviously that's out of my range now. There are airfields around here too, but most of the local emphasis is on helicopters. Which is, I suppose, only natural... given that Europe's largest helicopter museum is situated here :P
Another thing is work on Sontails.com. I'm seriously ASHAMED of how bad the layout is. I know I can do so much better now, especially since I can actively script rollover buttons and use CSS. And anything I don't know I can easily look up.
Also, I've been meaning to get a Nintendo Wii forever. And now that Smash Bros is looking so cool, I neeeeed one. I'd also like to get SatSR and M&SatOG. And Twilight Princess. And... well... lots of stuff :P Not a priority, I suppose... but still.
I also want to get this t-shirt and this wall clock. Geeky things indeed, from geeky websites (or perhaps just dorky ^^;), but I want ;_;
Oh OH!! Jei just showed me a model bi-plane from NatGeo's catalog that looks REALLY cool and she's maybe gonna get it for me for Xmas o.o Isn't it nifty? I love how vintage bi-planes look. I like modern jet-fighters too, especially when they can pull off intricate aerial maneuvers (also I love barrel rolls and I don't know why XD "Do a barrel roll!"), but they don't make me shiver and make my hairs prickle like bi-planes do. I guess I just have a bit of a fetish ^^;
Aw crud, and I also have stuff to do for SSMB's Xmas festivities... I'm running another small event, plus I have to re-- oh yeah. I have to keep hush about SSMB events D: But they'll be great. Believe me :)
Well, I'd better get to bed now. Sorry for the "tl;dr", but I did say I'd post more later :P
