You know what would be really awesome to have? 'Life-size' glass replicas of the seven Chaos Emeralds. I've been thinking for a while that having something like that would be awesome. You guys already know that I have WAY too much Sonic stuff... but seriously, that would just make my day. I wonder if there's any way I could get something like that commissioned by a place that specializes in cutting glass? I mean, ideally gem-stones of various varieties would be more luminescent... but they'd be more expensive. Colored glass would be fine. I just think it would be SO awesome to have seven Chaos Emeralds lined up on my shelf ^_^
I'm ruining SatSR for myself by watching ALL the in-game cut-scenes on YouTube ^^; Oh boy. Ah well, I've already watched the final battle and seen the ending. So I guess it doesn't matter if I watch the various cut-scenes leading up to it. I'm certainly not going to spoil any of it for anyone, but I will say, from a personal stance, that certain characters' voice actors make my head hurt. I will be all too glad if this is the last game that the 4Kids VA team voice.
Ha, someone drew a really awesome picture of Knuckles on the TA oekaki yesterday. It got me to thinking about Knuckles. He really is great. I like Sonic more, of course, don't worry about that ^^; But I do like Knuckles. For all his flaws, he's still a great guy, and he deserves a bit more spotlight. Also, sometimes I feel like I can kinda relate to him in some ways... he's a bit of a loner, like me (though, like me, not entirely through choice), plus he can be very protective and possessive of his possessions, and he has one heck of a temper on him. On Sonic personality quizzes, he's almost always my second result. Although Shadow tends to be my third, after him X.x But yeah, sometimes I think it would be cool to just talk to Knuckles. I know I would annoy the heck out of him... but eh. I'd try not to. Knuckles is great.
Speaking of that temper I have, I have a feeling I've been even more volatile than usual, lately. I guess I'm just stressed with the whole move and everything, but sincere apologies to anyone who's been on the end of my moodiness ^^; I don't mean to be like that (and I HAVE been trying not to be), but if I do seem snippy or more anal-retentive than usual (!), just ignore me. I'll settle down once this whole house-moving thing is over ^_^;
Hmm, one thing I will be glad of when we move is finally getting my TV back n.n; It's a pretty decent TV... a good size, and it's flat-screen. It was one of the first things I bought for myself when I was working at The Phoenix Centre Library after I got my first couple of wage-slips. Of course, when we moved into this apartment, the main TV stayed in the house in Sutton, so my TV ended up in the lounge-room here. But we're taking the TV from the house back now, so that one can go in the lounge and I can have mine back, yay! Given that my new room is HUGE, there's room for me to set up a little lounge area of my own. Also, I'm inheriting the couch and armchair from the old house, so those will go in my room too. It'll be a veritable little den! Eee! How cool ^^
Well, I've gotta go get ready for college! I'm... kinda late already n.n;; Whoops! Catch ya later! :)

Date: 2007-02-27 10:55 am (UTC)In fact, I REALLY like Jason Griffith's Sonic. He's darker than Drummond's, considerably so. Griffith's Sonic is a Sonic who feels pain and anger, but never quite submit to them. Drummond's Sonic is "Just a guy who loves adventure," and it seems to me, little more than that.
Plus... Mike Pollock is the shit!
I'm not looking forward to a switch back. I'm pissed at Sega for outsourcing Sonic X and the surrounding games to 4kids, but I wish they'd just make up their damn minds and stick with something. I can't take this switchign back and forth, and the idea of losing what's there frightens me. I couldn't identify with Adventure-era Sonic or Maria Robotnik before 4kids; how will I after? And what of Eggman. Unless they keep Pollock somehow, it's unlikely they'll find someone good enough to take his place... and it's not like we can get Deem Bristow back.
;.; I HATE voice actor changes, but I especially hate unecessary ones. Remind me to bitch about Mewtwo Returns sometime--I like Dan Green's Mewtwo a lot better than Phillip Bartlett's, but I'm still pissed that they made the change anyway.

Date: 2007-02-27 03:02 pm (UTC)To be perfectly honest, I don't really see the depth to Griffith's Sonic. He's far too generic-hero to me. Kinda reminds me of Goku (DBZ). He doesn't have enough attitude, or at least, it's not the attitude I picture with him. The script in SatSR seems better than usual, more of the attitude I loved, more how I remember Sonic being. But Griffith just doesn't do it justice, personally. Aw well. I didn't care much for Drummond's Sonic either, same reason.
But nothing peevs me more than Amy Palant's voice for Tails. She makes him sound just like every other young boy character voiced by a woman. She gives his voice such a horrible bratty quality, that slight screechiness that just... ugh... makes me wanna yell "shut up!" every time Tails speaks n.n; I know Corey Bringas is unlikely to be able to do Tails' voice again, since he's considerably older now, but I would like to see Tails have a young male VA again.
Pollock as Eggman suits well for Eggman's character, but I've always wished for a darker more evil Eggman, a la Robotnik in SatAM. He'll always be the way I view 'Eggman'.
Knuckles' voice I don't mind. I thought he was pretty good in SatSR; made me laugh anyway, with his "I am Sinbad of the Seven Seas! Adventurer of Adventurers!" and all that drama.
I'm picky, I know. I just can't help disliking the majority of the 4Kids cast.

Date: 2007-02-27 06:19 pm (UTC)I find myself really torn by the Tails voice acting bit. On one hand, I adore whoever voice Tails in SA2 for the sequence on the ARK (In the words of Chibi, Tails is gonna choke a bitch). On the other, I felt the rest of the game was mailed in. While I'm not crazy about Palant's Eggman, I like how she handled what little I've seen of Cosmo.
As for Eggman, what are your thoughts on Deem Bristow? He's sort of a middle road between Pollock's dorky Eggman and classic Evil!Eggman. Personally, that's right where I think he belongs. I fell in love with Deem Bristow's Eggman, not in the sense of a pervy fangirl but in the sense of a lost teenager looking for something or someone that understands. I've never liked the more evil interpretations of Eggman because they make the series too cut and dried--too generic, I feel. I much prefer the new Eggman as presented by Bristow and faithfully upheld--at least in Shadow and Next-Gen, anyway--by Pollock. I admire an Eggman whose true reasons for everything are mysterious but probably not evil. I like an Eggman with a conscience and a vision. I think I do understand the appeal of Evil!Eggman, I just don't share that need.
Knuckles... is interesting. While Dan Green is one of my favorite voice actors, I dislike his role in the Sonic series. He basically has three voices: Mewtwo, Knuckles, and Yugi. YamiYugi is between Mewtwo and Knuckles, closer to Mewtwo. Mephilis is almost identical to Knuckles, but has some 'two-y influences. I enjoy the contemplative quality that Green's Knuckles adopts, but it reminds me too much of Mewtwo and two much of YamiYugi. He's nothing like Knuckles, and it's distracting for me. I miss Knuckles' SA2 voice. I forget the actor's name... but Knuckles' voice was slightly higher in SA2, and I think that VA was a lot better about balancing anger and everything else in Knuckles, a difficult character to balance.
OH... I forgot. I do miss Shadow's voice actor from the old days. Griffith's Shadow is definately too generic, although I like him. I just like Humphrey more (did I get the last name right? I Just woke up).
Also, when I find the computer room, I'm going to shove it up Vector's VA's ass.

Date: 2007-02-27 06:45 pm (UTC)About Shadow - I suppose I'm on the fence about his voice since I really don't care for him as a character at all anyway. Interestingly enough, though, I met someone on SSMB who is a Shadow fan and somehow he actually managed to present Shadow in a light that made me... well... tolerate him. To the point where I actually ended up in an RP with him playing Shadow... Weird. But yeah.

XD ... you WIN. (I find myself thinking "Do a barrel roll!", and I have no idea why).

Date: 2007-02-27 02:58 pm (UTC)They have them in eight different colours. My husband was going to buy me one, a blue one, but when I found out they were $30 a pop, I was like "OMG, I can buy a new Sonic game for that. ;;" and left them there.
It was just like you said. Coloured glass cut into a Chaos Emerald shape. They came with litle mirrors to sit them on so they sparkled more in the light. They were nice. Wonder if they're still there....
