re: random fact #4 on the "6 Random Facts" meme...

Given my propensity to be incredibly self-analytical and introspective, I'm wondering exactly how I come across to others, genderwise. Not that it's hugely important, because I believe at the end of the day, personality has very little to do with gender at all, but I would kinda like to know what gender-vibe I give off. I tend to see myself as being rather squarely in the middle. If I'm female, I'd be a tomboyish female, and if I'm male, I suppose I'd be a slightly effeminate male ^^; Do I come across as boyish, girlish, a bit of both, or neither? I'm thinking mainly in reference to my LJ posts and, to those of you who've spoken to me on IMs, the way those conversations have gone, too.

So if any of you would indulge in my self-centered querying yet again, I thank you ^^;

(This is what happens when I get up at 5am and come online because I can't sleep :P)

You know, when I sit down and think about this, it's really hard to say. I can't recall thinking of you as a 'he' or a 'she,' generally speaking. It never really crosses my mind, though for the sake of things, I know I don't think of you as feminine or masculine. I guess, as most pronouns tend to do when we;re unsure of gender, I default to referring to you as a guy when I'm speaking to others about ya.

However, I can say that when I first met you on MF, I was already under the impression that you were a guy. That could be because everyone else was, thus affecting me, but when I try to recall the mannerisms and all that, it comes out pretty much down the middle. Also, when compared to the few female friends I have offline, most of which aren't very feminine either, I can still think of differences that I notice with the guys as well, which leads me to think of placing you a bit more on the male side.

I'd say you're pretty acurate when you say squarely in the middle.

We're probably its together :P It's a shame that 'it' gives an impression of...well, non-human-ness (Not like I'm one anyways, Vee Veeeve!) - or more like a lack of personality/life/soul/thing. None of that hir stuff at least; it never sounds right anyway.

Now, the question - what were you hoping to hear? I know it was something; I don't think I've ever asked a similar question without having an answer I hoped people would give ;)

Honestly? I don't know what I was hoping to hear. I guess I hope I don't come across as overly effeminate despite the fact that I overuse emoticons and words like 'whee' and 'hee' etc ^^; I do try to just be myself, because there's no point in putting on an act just to get people to see me a certain way. But really, I ask the question because I have a genuine interest in how I'm perceived by others on the gender-spectrum. If the general concensus puts me somewhere I'd rather not be (which would likely be at either extreme), then at least I'd know, even if there's not much I can do about it without getting a personality transplant ^^;

Naaah, those things just give off more a friendly vibe, sort of like a kid can do just by being himself ^_^

Personality transplants...I guess if we hit you on the head really hard and give you amnesia it may be possible, right? :P

To be honest I don't believe much in reall stereotypes of character if either geneder, may still be that ofcourse such stereotypes excist..but not really like I really think much about what gender someone would be depending on behaviour.

Perhaps mostly since having a friend which is male but rather feminine in ways of showign emotions as well as other traits, but also know woman who are more "manly" then all that feminine and caring.
He, even I don't really see myself as really that stereotypically male for many reasons, but doesn;t make me think of being a girl or any such thing either though n.n

Still I guess you do get impressions that invoke some thoughts on what gender someone is or would be, as for example I always thought Jon lupus to be male on the mystic boards..though not really because of behaviour alone.
Of you, I can't say I really had any impression you realy leab too much towards female, didn't really take to much thought on it and ofcourse don't know you more then what I read in your journal.
Perhaps in chat you are different, but as of now I would still say you are predominantly male in impression in my opinion and point of view.

But this may be perhaps because i'm already more used to semi-feminine traits or other such things.
(though I don't really notice that much especially feminine traits in you through general journal entries..)

no problem, still need to get up and chat sometime with you I guess n.n

But you only use AIM right?
I do have trillian and all, but I hardly ever use it as almost all have msn as well...or they use yahoo which can now be aded to windows live messenger too..

Well at least trillian is still on my comp, so should get online on it more often ^^;
May still mean i'll prolly get to talk to you only in weekends, on saterdays or so most likely.

Well personally don't like AIM to much ;p
Besides I can use my (ever growing) collection of self made emoticons in msn/windows live messenger.

I'll see if I can catch you when I get home after work, but probably is more likely i'll have a better chance on friday or saterday.

Going back to the days of MF I honestly thought that you were male, especially after I had first seen your sight and began seeing SonTails for the first time. I just didn't see you much as a girl at the time while we spoke and the fact you had a g/f made me want to believe you were male. So, I guess it was just a natural reaction without pulling much of the facts together. For all I knew you seemed like a very energetic male that liked flying in planes :P

I definitely see you as a male, even before I knew you that well enough to judge. Well, I still don't know you that well now, but I'm guessing the fact I know you're a male now is something.

And I'd you to give me a little nudge on this as well. Do you see me as a bit more masculine or feminine? I'm only saying this because until I told a bunch of people so many moons ago I was a girl, they thought I was a boy. ^^;;

Have I ever actually outright said anywhere that I'm male? *blinks*

And I pretty much figured you're a girl as soon as I saw ya on UB ^^ You're definitely not a complete 'girly-girl', but you seem female-like, if there's such a thing :P

I dunno actually, maybe I'm wrong. ^^;; If I am, dreadfully sorry. It's just I'm a bit st00pid like that sometimes, plus your nickname of "Jai" seems a little more masculine than WPC's "Jei" nickname.

And yes, I am a female, I do get kinda annoyed when people call me a "he" instead of a "she" (even if it is an accident) but the "girly-girls" who have to look ZOMFGPURRFECT!!1!!1!! really do annoy me. >_<

Well, I've gotta go with a semi-effeminate guy. But I'm exactly the same way, so's I can judge! Yep. But you already know that I'm horrible at guessing gender to start with on LJ, anyway. I naturally assume that everyone's a guy ;P.

For me, as someone who only knows you recently from this journal, and who herself is a completely straight and narrow born-female female, you come across as a dude. Probably a combination of the fact that "boy" appears in your username and you talk about your girlfriend. I guess a bit sensitive and feminine, but still definitely a dude. Part of that, though, I think is that you come off as very naive to me, since we're the same age. It matters not at all, however. ;)

I'm naive? ^^; Well okay. I guess I could be, a bit... And yeah, the 'boy' part of my username kinda... leads one to assume I'm male I guess. Duh. Didn't think about that. Well, thanks for the input! ^_^
