I hate migraines. They can... ugh... bite me. ::Gets bitten:: x.o Oww.
So... just after I got off the computer last night, as I'm heading to bed, I suddenly notice bits disappearing in my vision. Typical. By the time I'm in bed and closing my eyes, it's already evolved into the typical migraine pattern aura that looks kinda like this:

It's like a giant shimmering zigzagging horseshoe, and you can't turn it off >.> Even when you wanna sleep XD I find migraine aura fascinating, even if I absolutely HATE having it. It wasn't so bad this time though... the actual headache, I mean. I slept through the worst of it (and the part where my hand and half my face goes numb ^^;). I guess I'm fortunate that classical migraines (migraines with aura) tend to only last about 6 hours, compared to common migraines (without aura) which can last up to three days o.o But even so, sometimes the after-headache is pretty bad and I can't even move my head without feeling really sick and dizzy. I had one of those really bad ones (actually, it was more like two in a row) while Jei was here :\ ate up a whole day... But this one wasn't so bad. My head's still a little sore, but I pretty much feel better already.
However... of course, I couldn't get out this morning to drop my CVs off ;_; My mom was kind and at least sorted out the bank for me. But my CVs are ready, and I'll get them out tomorrow.
I'm not sure if stress causes my migraines, or if getting all stressed and upset is a sign that one is coming... But I'm getting them a lot more lately >/ Shoo, go away!! Bleh.

Date: 2006-10-07 05:43 pm (UTC)For the rest, they say drinking dissolved glucose/fructose in water during/before the migraine seems to help.
(they have that dextrose powder you can buy in stores, dissolve a bit in water and drink it)
Also they have medicine for it as well which causes the migraines to be a bit milder, but you probably already know that.

Date: 2006-10-08 12:29 pm (UTC)I've tried migraine meds before (they were kinda like the Matrix - a red pill and a blue one - well, the 'red' was pink actually). But they usually just made me feel sick, so I stopped taking them.

Date: 2006-10-08 05:20 pm (UTC)Not sure how many different they actually have, but yes..
Though medication, especially related to the brain, are not things you should take unless it is really neccesary.
(but the brain is especially complex, and that's mainly why of most medications for the brain they do not even know exactly what they do...just that they work. Also the major reason they tend to have a lot of sideeffects)
If it really gets bad you might consult your doctor about alternatives.
But whenever it comes to the brain, perhaps because of my knowledge in biochemistry, I simply rest my case when it comes to brain related medicine..
To my opinion they are more dangerous then they are helpfull at times..

You tell those migraines! Show 'em who's boss! :)
