Since I fear my new neighbors are going to fillet me alive otherwise... does anyone know where I can buy/order a 'silent' keyboard? That is, a regular-layout computer keyboard that just... doesn't make any (or much) noise when typing? ^^; I'm thinking rubber or silicone... maybe one of those roll-up ones? 'Though I don't know how good they are... Or failing that, just a regular keyboard that's quieter than most?

Honestly, how thin are those walls? A normal, cheap little £10 keyboard should not be making enough noise to be going through even thin walls, unless you're literally pounding on it like it's....something you pound on XP

As far as finding one...I really wouldn't know where to look. I know that laptop keyboards are far quieter in general, so perhaps its possible to find a usb powered laptop keyboard? Really not sure what help to give aside from googling for quiet keyboards ^^; I saw some $200+ ones that are uber - used in court and the like. But I don't think you want to spend quite that much :P Sorry I can't be of assistance ^^;

Maybe my keyboard is just very noisy :\ But my mom can hear it from her room on the other side of the apartment, even with her door shut (and mine shut). And these walls ARE thin... I'm afraid to lean against them for fear of falling straight through ^^;;

Are you SURE it's your keyboard? Have they actually said that? Because the doorbell episode sounds like it could've just beem someone lost in the building and then running away when they realized they had the wrong door...

I mean, unless you can hear them talking, I doubt they can hear your keyboard.

Roll-up, fairly cheap.

Laser keyboard.

I'm not sure, but the way they hammered on the doorbell seemed VERY angry and purposeful, and it was 2am... also, there's only two apartments on each side, so unless it was the neighbor, they would have had to take the elevator to get away, and I didn't hear the elevator go (it makes a very loud 'swoosh' sound when the doors open/close, accompanied by "SECOND FLOOR!" :P). So... I dunno... but now I'm self-conscious and I want a quieter keyboard anyway ^^; things sound a lot louder in the dead of night.

Thanks for the links! I didn't think to try ThinkGeek; I love the stuff they have there, so maybe I'll buy that roll up one ^^

But surely it would make more sense to bang on the wall than go all the way out to the hall! ;)

What makes you so sure it was your keyboard that got them to knock? As tarynw said, they may have got the wrong door
