There is NO escape from "The Wedding" if you live in a tiny rural heavily Conservative village in the South West of England ;_;

There WILL be a fete in the Coronation Hall all day which you will have to ignore lest you be dragged along to watch old ladies selling cupcakes and mugs and dishclothes with "Will and Kate"s faces on them amid a plethora of British flags and horrible music.

There WILL be no way to buy anything of value (such as food) as the only shop in the whole village (a post-office/farm store) will be treating it like a Sabbatical and has gone into lockdown from Thursday until Tuesday.

There WILL be an ALL DAY street party in the nearest actual town, blocking off all streets and bus routes into said town.

There WILL be no such thing as local radio outside of minute by minute coverage of the 'big day'.

Then when you try to tune into a music station, it WILL only be playing songs related in some way to the wedding, tied into commentary about watching the event on the big screen at Alton Towers.

Your overworked mother who was looking forward to this supposed 'day off' WILL be dragged into work for a 'celebratory wedding party' that she has to help staff and clean up after.

You WILL sit at home all day with your head in a book and avoid all attempts at human contact or media because you do not give a crap.

(Apologies to anyone who does care about the wedding. I have no problem with that. Only a problem with the extremes that my town has taken it and the fact that I can't escape it without becoming an absolute hermit </3 Hopefully now that it's done the buzz will finally die down?)

Yeah, I completely sympathise. When the "normal world" decides to get really worked up about an event and... you just want to live your life according to your schedule, and your schedule is completely thrown off because everyone assumes that absolutely everyone else cares about something you don't.

Here's hoping for the fuss to be over soon.

I'll just hide in your pocket, then, until it's over ;_;

My mum thinks it'll be a while before it dies down around here. 750 people turned up to the 'party', and it was all cameras and reporters. A really big 'do' for such a small community. I just know that the next week or so will just be radio shows packed with gossip about today and newspapers full of photographs of the celebrations and interviews with passers-by and honeymoon gossip and arghkhfgkshgk

Really is no escaping it, is there? Went out today to try and get away from it, and even they had all the "William and Kate" banners in all the shops we were at. Mum had to turn the car radio off as they were doing a "half hour news special", which she knew involved the wedding, and dad was sick to death of hearing about the wedding.

Just kinda sat here huddled in my room playing Sonic Adventure, because I know Sonic and co. won't say anything about the royal wedding. It's nice that they're married, but I wonder if it's really as big a deal as people think. o-O Hopefully all the hype will calm down over these next few days.

Wow, I sound like a miserable so-and-so. XD

XD To me you just sound like a SANE so-and-so.

Retreating into fandom-related stuff sounds like the best thing to do ^^; I should just go stick my head in a book or something and ignore the noise of the fanatic crowd outside the pub right behind my house...

I think most of it has died down here now. Either that or I'm just too engrossed in Chao raising to notice. XD

Awww, I'm so sorry! I didn't know it could be so intrusive and exhausting for you and your mother...

You have my sympathy. I'm in America and people won't shut up about it. I can't imagine how it is for you in the UK.

It's been a pain XD But hopefully things will gradually calm down after the bank holiday weekend when everyone gets it out of their systems...

It's... insane, really. No one here did ANYTHING for St. George's day a couple of weeks ago... yet the streets erupt for this? x.o Makes me kinda sad actually.

Thats pretty much how it was for me. I had a break off work due to injury and what do I find? That the whole world has stopped because of one wedding so it doesn't even matter anyway -___-
