Coffee and Steampunk
Sep. 30th, 2010 09:55 pmHeh. Miles may have (finally) got the memo that he can't take over my body or my life... but he's slowly but surely taking over my apartment ^^; He's got his own towel, clothes, shower stuff ('cause he won't touch my Mint Candy shower stuff), and FAR too much coffee stuff for any reasonable person. Seriously, let's see... we have instant espresso, mocha, Colombian instant coffee (or at least we DID until the whole jar mysteriously vanished into thin air along with Jei's iPod, straaange), more Colombian coffee (the non-instant kind), a cafetière, a cappuccino mug, an espresso cup... Ah. Do we NEED all this, Miles? I don't even really drink coffee, but oh well. If Miles has to hook himself on something, I guess coffee is a better fix than vodka ^^;; He also intends to get a leather-bound journal and a fountain pen, as I think I said before. I know that what he'd REALLY like is his own room in the flat, or at least a little corner to make up as his own space... but this tiny apartment doesn't even have room for Jei and I to have our own set areas (not that we really need 'em). More and more I do feel like four people live here instead of two, even if Scourge is (oddly) the quietest and least intrusive one.
*Eyes can of 'Relentless' energy drink on his desk* ... ugh, god damn it, no more caffeine, please~! I wonder if other people with 'bonds' end up completely separating their lives like this, with their own belongings, food, clothes etc. I suppose you'd have to, right? Unless you were spiritually twins in all your likes and dislikes and habits.
Okay, I am going to try to talk about something different. Here we go!
Feedback appreciated on the below! ♥
Jei and I are going to start up a webcomic. No, not a Sonic and Tails one (tempting as that idea is). It's going to be an original (as much as such a thing can be) Steampunk adventure comic, tentatively titled 'Calamity!'. [If anyone decides to tell me that 'Professor Calamity' is already the name of a prolific guy in the Steampunk community I will bite you. I only found out about him today, and 'Calamity' has been my main character in this story's last name for over 7 months now D: I like it too much to change it unless I stumble across something amazingly better before the first page goes up (and 'sides, he's an airship mechanic, not a professor).] It's gonna be full-page, coloured and sepia-toned, hopefully once or twice per week with me writing it and Jei drawing/colouring. There may be hints of a relationship between the main character and his friend that he adventures with (lol they are both boys, am I edgy yet? No? Aww) but the main theme will be wacky adventures and epic landscapes and crazy scrapes. We have some pretty neat ideas already, so I'm REALLY hoping this will work out. It would be great to work on something original and completely ours for once. I know that there are only so many different basic stories in existence and that true originality in a set genre (such as Steampunk) is a difficult thing to accomplish... but we're gonna try, and hey, pretty art, yush~?
So I wonder if anyone reading would be at all interested in reading this and giving feedback/ideas/crit once the first few pages are up? Heck, we're mainly doing it for fun, so if it doesn't take off we won't be too upset. But a readership, if only a small one, would be absolutely the icing on the proverbial cake (:
Okie-dokie, guess that's all for now ^^ Laters!

I really wanna start drawing!!! ... ;_; damn these commissions. Well... not damn them, they are money. But gaaah!

Date: 2010-09-30 09:37 pm (UTC)I'm so excited too! We have so many plans! n.n And yeah, you have commissions, but I still need to get the synopsis and initial scripts down before you can start work on drawing the comic, anyway... But hopefully it'll all get off the ground soon, eee~!

Date: 2010-09-30 09:41 pm (UTC)I'm gonna work on it lots the rest of this week n.n It sucks that you're back at Uni after the weekend, but you'll still be able to find time for the comic, right? It's gonna be fun, yay!

Date: 2010-09-30 09:54 pm (UTC)perfume"amber-sandalwood" scented oil, Velasco has claimed a pair of my pants as specifically his... and Ginny's the one who wears corsets the most, when she's "driving". Of course, we're not constantly co-existing, so the situation's probably a bit different. But it does eventually get to a point where you feel like there're more people than there are bodies, haha! (It's definitely for the best that we're not going to be living with Abiquiu and Castle Void's anchors after all, that would've gotten crowded.)If Miles can't have his own space in the apartment, well... oh god, I almost don't want to suggest "get a traveling desk/box desk for him" because I know how ludicrously expensive the antique ones can get, and the only remotely attractive modern ones I've seen are about US $130! I was lucky enough to find a contemporary reproduction of one for about 40 bucks, though that was back in 1999... but something of the type would be a space for the journal he apparently wants, and any special pens/other writing supplies.
Would TOTALLY be up for a new comic to read! ♥

Date: 2010-09-30 10:10 pm (UTC)Glad you'd be interested in the Steampunky comic! (:
ETA: I just looked on eBay and the only thing that came up was a renovated Victorian travelling desk from around 1880 with crystal/silver inkwells and an English oak timber trunk. It's around £215 plus another £50 shipping from Australia. Miles wants it. Shoot me now.

Date: 2010-09-30 10:51 pm (UTC)If it's got gay and airships, COUNT ME IN. 8D

Date: 2010-09-30 10:56 pm (UTC)Well, it's pretty much an airship adventure with a liberal sprinkling of gay, so hopefully you will like it (:

Date: 2010-09-30 10:39 pm (UTC)...yeah, I didn't have anything useful to say other than that. It's just nice to know (of) more plurals, since I avoid the comms and most of the ones I do know aren't that talky. :)

Date: 2010-09-30 10:54 pm (UTC)It's a good feeling realizing you're not alone, isn't it? Anyway, I'm Lee (bit blendy with Jane at the moment, but as she's basically younger!me - it happens). What's your name?

Date: 2010-09-30 10:57 pm (UTC)I'm-- well, historically known as Corin, transitioning to using the name Víkja for my dragon-self. I'm a creature of many names, and tend not to stick with one. At the moment it's mostly just me and Iris floating around the system at all, but things tend to change up fairly regularly.
Good to meetcha!

Date: 2010-09-30 10:44 pm (UTC)And the clothes. They buy clothes like nobody's business. That's always where I worry they'll bankrupt me. Tastes in food/drink, too. At least coffee's a better addiction than alcohol, yeah, for sure. :)
Oh, and I meant to say: definitely interested in taking a look at the comic and giving feedbacks, too. :)

Date: 2010-09-30 10:49 pm (UTC)Btw, aubergine_pilot above is a relatively new add to my LJ (hence why you might not have seen 'em here much before), but like you they've dispensed invaluable advice to me, so I'd say you're spot on with your evaluation (: I love when my LJ brings like-minded people together.
Edit: Thanks, I'll look forward to your feedback once the comic is under-way~ ♥

Date: 2010-09-30 10:53 pm (UTC)And awesome! :D I've been busy enough between MythiCalia and RP that I haven't been keeping up as well as I'd like, but it's neat to have that insta-evaluation seconded. I was just, oooh, interesting pluraltalk, I don't usually get this too many places other than you.... (See, you do provide a valuable service with your Miles-babbling. :D)

Date: 2010-09-30 11:00 pm (UTC)Hee, and yeah, I'm glad my inane babbling does encourage some positive outcomes after all ^^

Date: 2010-09-30 11:06 pm (UTC)Oddly enough, nowadays I just have the sedate little alchemist girl who wants to dress kind of demure-feminine-bohemian, which is... about as far from goth as it gets (she won't even touch black), but so not me in its own way. :P Although she does own this, which is pretty cool.
It so very much does. I love reading your stuff, srslylike.

Date: 2010-10-01 08:27 am (UTC)Only tea and even then, that's really rare and usually mint tea, although when I was a kid, I was fond of tea with milk. Cut out all soft drinks when I was twelve! I'm especially adverse to cola, eeek.
It's pretty weird whenever I go to a fast food joint and I'm all "do you have apple juice or orange juice? Maybe water?"
... xDDD;;
Coffee is certainly better than hard alcoholic drinks, but is it really alright?! This guy's really something, huh?
I would love to see you two make a comic. Calamity! does sound like a cool name. x33

Date: 2010-10-01 10:09 am (UTC)Coffee is fine... in moderation. When I'm being drowned in it, not so much D:
Glad you're interested in the comic! Can't wait to get it up online so you can see!

Date: 2010-10-01 10:12 am (UTC)That's great! I never understood the appeal of all these soft drinks... and they don't do your body any good.
xD;;; T-true!
