Long shot, but maybe it's because you were open about being gay with the interviewer?

If that were the case, I'm sure they would have simply declined my application and told me I didn't get the job. The woman who interviewed me seemed totally fine about my partner when I used female pronouns after being asked if I had one, even telling me how I could get a discount card for her if I got the job. I understand that homophobia is rampant, but she honestly seemed lovely and I highly doubt they'd do something as confusing as acting like I didn't attend the interview, knowing full well that I can prove that I did and they'd look silly XD

In any event, I finally got through to someone on the recruitment team who seems to think it's an honest mistake, especially as it was an automated email. So we'll see what happens (:

Oh, it's most definitely illegal, although I suppose there would be no way to prove that it was the reason. But I'm entirely confident that it has nothing to do with it XD Like I said, if they don't want to hire me, they'll simply... not hire me. It would be beyond daft to send me an email saying that I never attended the interview in the first place :P

It may be illegal, but the law is virtually unenforceable. Employers with prejudices generally aren't stupid and flagrant enough to descriminate for literally that reason. There's nothing stopping them from finding some other reason to fire or deny you employment if they don't like what you are.

It didn't say that I wasn't accepted. It said that I didn't attend the interview so they're assuming I'm not interested in the job o.o But I did attend the interview XD So it's just odd.

Ugh, is there a number on the letter, either in the body of the letter or on the headers or footers that you can contact? That seems a bit odd. Maybe a little clarification with their HR can help clear things up?
