Comin' up fast!
Aug. 2nd, 2010 08:11 pmSummer of Sonic is in five days. Going to London for it in four. Jei arrives back in the UK in two. It's all happening, folks!
My mum's away at the funeral of her cousin today. He's the first of 'her' generation to pass away, so it's got her kinda introspective and sad about her own age. I keep telling her she's ten years younger than him and he died young anyway, and she's so healthy and young-seeming anyway but eh... I did offer to go with her to the funeral, but the train was expensive and I don't know anyone there anyway so she said she'd just go herself. Now she's been stuck at Paddington all afternoon because her rail-card doesn't let her use any trains until after 7pm. When she gets home I need to give her a BIG hug. Biggest hug ever.
Regarding SoS: If anyone is going to be around on the Friday night, we are all planning a meal at Wetherspoons. We'll be meeting at the Grantly Hotel in Shepherd's Bush at @ 7pm (the hotel where a good portion of SoS attendees, including myself and Jei, are staying ♥). Again, if anyone wants my cellphone number, just ask and I'll PM it to ya for meets and/or directions n' such.
So... um... apparently Miles likes psy-trance (psychedelic trance) music :| I now have three folders of the stuff. He would just happen to love a genre of music that I personally really do not like ^^; It's just noise to me and kinda makes me feel sick (I guess I'm hypersensitive to all the weird frequencies and sound and the pulsating beats). But yeah, he can listen for hours and it actually kinda seems to mellow him out n.n; He also seems to like Fox, my cat, which was a relief because I was afraid he'd wanna kick him or something, given the disdain with which he regards most living things. But no, he actually likes Fox, although he refuses to call him anything other than 'Cat' ^^;
I also noticed that when he's 'fronting', he's a lot more clumsy than me, and I'm pretty damn clumsy. I'm putting that down to him still not being used to my clutzy big human body. He was making a hot drink in my kitchen the other night and pretty much bumping into everything and knocking stuff over all over the place (and then cursing). I figure he'll get used to it if he has control enough. I know he's not happy with my form (human, female, moderately unfit), but I can't do much about the first two and I'm working on the last.
Aaanyway, still got a bunch of stuff to write up for SoS... then tomorrow I'm finally getting my hair cut, just in time for the event. Ugh. It'll be such a relief. I hate when it's long like this and all in my eyes and dripping down my back when I take a shower. I really wanted my usual colours put in ;_; But I just can't afford it this time. I'm hoping to make a little bit of dough at SoS by selling comics and a few other bits and bobs, so perhaps some of that can go to it after other expenses (like rent @_@) are paid off.
Better get back to work, hey-ho. Laters!

Date: 2010-08-02 09:59 pm (UTC)I can understand about the whole Miles thing - I rarely talk about her but she's there, and when she's fronting it's the opposite - she's ten times more graceful than I am. It's almost frightening. I thought about blogging about her but it's something that's always been really personal. xD
Anyway, I hope you and Jei have a lot of fun! :D

Date: 2010-08-02 10:01 pm (UTC)My mother likes it.
I personally don't like music in general. It's very silly, but it LITERALLY CAUSES ME PHYSICAL PAIN if I listen to it for more than a few minutes.
But then, what Lamees can actually listen to is really soft stuff like Yoake no Scat/Dawn Scat or some Ray Charles songs. ^^;; OLD-FASHIONED.
I don't get it at all. I think it's psychomatic or something... my ears really end up aching to the point I might cry.

Date: 2010-08-02 10:09 pm (UTC)It must be cool to have someone really graceful fronting and moving your body in a way you know you couldn't do by yourself (: It's always cool to hear your insights, even if you don't talk about it much.
As far as an SoS event in the States goes - discussion IS under-way and it could easily be a reality within the next year or two! ♥

Date: 2010-08-02 10:12 pm (UTC)I can't imagine not liking music much at all ;_; I'm always listening to music. But I'm glad there's some stuff at least that you can bear and like ^^ Maybe your sensitivities will lessen over time?

Date: 2010-08-02 10:21 pm (UTC)Nobody ever can! To the point, it drives me a little crazy that people insist everyone likes music, everyone MUST have a musical preference... and treat me like I'm crazy or something! xD; I get so frustrated, waaah. -flail-
This is not at all targeted to you, by the way. ^^ I was speaking in general.
Nope. I've always been this way!
I also in general avoid most songs nowadays because of other reasons (most popular American music videos disgust me, I'm not at all a fan of the trends of modern music, the subject matter often bothers me...), I don't think there's a chance for me to get used to it. ^^;
That and I just don't see the point. ^^; I'm strange that way.

Date: 2010-08-02 10:24 pm (UTC)Well, when you put it that way, you're absolutely right ^^ As long as you're not upset by your inability to enjoy music and as long as you don't feel you're missing/lacking anything, then of course there's not a problem. You have plenty of other things that you enjoy, after all! ♥
