After we move and as soon as I have the money to fund it I'm taking driving lessons again. But this time I think I'll just learn automatic XD I mean, I know it's useful to be able to drive manual (stick-shift), but it's more important for me to just be able to _drive_ ^^;; I can always learn manual later... but out of London, even though of course there's still buses etc, the transport network is less cohesive and I might need a car to get around :P

... a 'plane would be better. But parking might be a little more difficult.

My bi-plane lesson is finally coming up, after having to wait almost a whole extra year for it ^^ I think it's in mid-July. Hopefully once I get a job in my new location, I'll be able to afford more bi-plane lessons so I can get my pilot license. With all that open country out there, I'll have lots of space to flllyyy... ^___^

I forget, how old do you have to be to drive in the States? I think it's younger than here... is it like 16 or something?

Well technically you have to be at least 16 to get your permit and then you have to have it for like a year before you get your actual lisence... it's really dumb lol

Ooo, I see. Well, here you can't even take _lessons_ 'til you're 17. I think it's the only thing Brits have to wait longer than Americans to do, since our age limits for everything else are lower ^^; I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Well - and forgive me if I'm being stereotypical, but - I think Americans in general tend to be a bit more rash, whereas you guys kind of have more of a mature handle on it. We can't really take so much responsibility XD

It's an entirely different mindset... I remember reading in someone's LJ about a family where they were kicked out of the restaurant because the mom let one of the 'kids' drink alcohol, and the person wrote "she couldn't have been more than 18!" like it was amazing that anyone would dare try to let an 18-year-old drink... like 18-year-olds are still 'kids'. Whereas here in England, 18-year-olds are considered to be adults. No one would call an 18-year-old 'kid'. I always felt weird in America when I was 18, 19 and 20, because I wasn't legally an adult there. I was there shortly before my 21st birthday, and it wasn't legal for me to buy an alcoholic drink, even though I'd been legally able to drink in the UK for almost 3 years. It's a really weird feeling... being a 'kid' while I was there, and an 'adult' as soon as I returned to England ^^;;
