Affirmation, or Not Being Canon Tails

Why on Earth would I post about hating Fiona in order to try to seem like Tails? O_o Hating Fiona doesn't make me sound like Tails at all. Quite the contrary. Tails is actually probably the most forgiving towards Fiona of all the Freedom Fighters. He doesn't want to hate 'Fi' at all. Say what you want about me trying to start 'kin' drama, but... my dislike of Fiona is all me. It has nothing to do with trying to be or seem like anything or anyone else. I only wish I could be more Tails-like about it - would save me some grief.

Also, on hating 'Fi' simply because she was with Sonic. Nah. Sally was canonically 'with' Sonic on-and-off throughout SatAM and Archie's entire history and I love her to bits. I have a problem with Fiona for reasons that perhaps are over-dramatised even in my own head, but give me more credit than pure fan-brat-ism. Or don't. Eh.

On that note, I am quite aware that canon-Tails and I have some pretty stark differences, and to those who aren't familiar with my 'kin stuff, I'd like it known openly that I do not "try to be" Tails. Fuck that. I couldn't even if I dedicated my life to it. In fact, there's little that I deplore more than fiction'kin who "try too hard" to BE the person they claim to be connected to :\ If I ever come across as trying too hard to be like canon Tails (from any canon), please slap me. Hard. And repeatedly.

You DON'T have to justify yourself (to us anyway).

Why should it matter if you're "canon" Tails or not? Hell, doesn't the Sonic verse have like 50bajillion conflicting "canons" anyway?

Being who we are doesn't mean we have to be who other people think we are. You KNOW that, obviously. But you feel like you you have to justify not having to justify yourself to yourself (sic).

David and I have a lot of differences from our "canon" counterparts; its because we're not cartoon characters- we're PEOPLE. People from another world.

And if it means anything (and even if it shouldn't I know I feel the same way sometimes) you have never seemed "out of character" (LOL!) to me. You, and the Tails in my mind are pretty indistinguishable to me. Sure, you're more mature, tougher- Jai, you're OLDER, not to mention having an entire 'nother life's worth of experiences.

And for the record, we don't know who this Fiona bitch is, but Sally is the bomb. Represent.

Actually I think I'm a heck of a lot LESS mature (and far less tough!) than canon-Tails in most instances ^^; You know, he's written to be kind of perfect most of the time (especially in game canon), and I'm FAR from perfect. But that's okay, because I'm only human... just like everyone else in this world. I just... ugh... I hate the thought that people think that I think I'm BETTER than anyone else or somehow SPECIAL just because I identify as 'kin. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm as mundane as the next sod, and quite happy to be that way :3

Same here. DEFINITELY same here. But at the same time you don't have to police yourself in the opposite direction, either. I've struggled with that myself.

I guess x.x I'm just finding it hard striking a balance between making kin-related posts and not letting 'kin stuff define me :\ I feel like if I post more kin-related stuff, it'll seem like I'm trying to force it on people. You could always create a kin filter, or lj-cut kin posts, if you're worried about forcing it on people.

I've never liked filters because I don't want to choose which friends to be fully open with or not... I'd like to think that everyone I'm friends with can accept all of me. I just don't wanna bore (or weird) the pants off them either XD;;

I understand that you want to justify yourself - I'd want to do it too. Even if it's to a troll, but I also know it's really not worth it.

You're the one that really knows the truth about yourself, so you don't need to give him the satisfaction of having you retaliate.

I don't know to which point I am not "canon", having had a nice relationship with someone who was my enemy in my other life ( who surprisingly pisses me off to no end, at the moment, OTL lives ), but you're not just Tails in this life, you're like a big ball of things, and Tails just happens to be a big part of that ball.

Haha, I'm very non-canon relationship-wise and in a lot of other ways... but you are absolutely right. And I've never defined myself by a single past lifetime. I'm who I am in this life, and past lives are just one part of that.

That's part of why it irritates me when I see 'kin who are so desperate to be seen as identical to who they were in their previous existence when it would, to my mind, be impossible with the experiences of another lifetime on top. Walk-ins and 'bonds who are still living that lifetime, that's a different matter. But for past lives, you're right - those lives are simply just elements of what makes us what we are here :)

I'm actually pretty canon when it comes to relationships, at the moment. I tend to not think about it too much, even if the similarities to my other self actually start by my nose, which is kind of hard to not notice. Either way, I realize that I am my own self, before being Ivan.

I never met kin that were...that obsessive to be seen as identical, it almost sounds fake. Ball-analogy insert here. It's impossible to return to the past, even if we really want to.

I'm not very cannon myself. Shrugs, just as well. Elisabeth is more of a huge mix of BTAS and the Batman comics. I mean Elisabeth considers Zatanna Zatara as another one of her personalities. Zatanna is just another part of he. So yeah not really very cannon I know. Elisabeth also is alive in this life, with her being Zatanna so it's not always easy making her happy. (: But we get along though fine.
Elisabeth wouldn't want to be 100% cannon any ways, it would be SO boring. She likes herself for the most part. She likes being married to Kirk, being a mom and her wilder years were fun too. So she doesn't have much to complain about really. I think it's more scary when someone is so into being more 100% like there other half. Don't know why but that sounds more scary.
