Urf.

Every time I think I've outgrown these stupid migraines, they come back and bite me in the ass >_>

This time it just came out of nowhere, the night before last, around 10.45pm. I was just checking my email before bed when suddenly... oh hi thar, disappearing vision! Ugh. So I decided that, since it was bedtime anyway, I would just go straight to bed without taking any pre-emptive painkillers since hopefully I could just sleep it off.

Worst. Night. Ever ._.

I woke at about 2am with THE most wretched eye-gouging headache I have EVER had. Honestly, it felt like someone was stabbing into my eyes with splintery toothpicks, made worse by the gut-wrenching nausea that accompanied it. I knew I had to take some painkillers, but I could hardly move without feeling like I was going to throw up. Finally, after sitting on the living room floor for a couple of hours sipping meekly at some water, I managed to swallow a couple of tablets. Then I spent the next half hour or so in the bathroom slumped against the wall trying to keep down the water and painkillers I'd just taken.

Finally, around 4.30am, I managed to crawl into bed. I couldn't lie down for a while because every time I did I felt like the room was spinning and rolling. Poor Jei ended up sleeping on the couch because her every movement was making my head hurt, and also she needed sleep for class the next day ^^;

Eventually the painkillers kicked in and I was able to sleep, and I slept most of yesterday, on and off. I still have the remnants of the headache over one eye now, and I have to say I don't recall ever having had a migraine as bad as that one before. It crippled me completely and wiped me out.

Stupid migraines. Go away. Raawr.

It's been a while. Sorry for your migraines. You think they can be cured?

On the Wikipedia article for migraines there's a gif showing how long does it take for...something to spread over your brain. It looks unsettlingly like something else.

I know this is very late, but I forgot to wish you on your birthday. Sorry.

Lol, thanks for the late birthday wishes ^^

Yipes, that page is a little... scary. But pretty accurate. My migraines seem very typical of 'migraine with aura'.

I doubt they can be 'cured', per se, but they might be manageable.

I don't think you can outgrow migraines. Pretty sure they're the result of some kind of neuro-disorder. You might be able to get medication for it, though. Try asking around.

::Nods:: It's definitely neurological, but it can be tied into hormones, so some people outgrow them after adolescence or later in life. But at this stage you're right, they're unlikely to just 'stop' unless I locate an exact trigger for them. Which I never have. It seems to be a combination of things.

I tend to keep a unopened water bottle and a small bottle of my migraine painkillers on the dresser beside my bed, so I don't have to move.

*hugs* I'm sorry. Migraines suck.

Heh, that's a remarkably good idea. I keep painkillers and water in my bag when I'm out, but having the same supplies an easy reach from my bed would be useful too ^^;

Do you think that it's more likely that these migraines are part of Seasonal Effective Disorder, or a side effect of the sensory problems you had when you were younger?

Eh, I get them all year round and I've had them since I was 9... so I guess it's just part of me.
