Waa.

MILESELECTRIC (my beloved laptop) suffered severe cardiac arrest a couple of days ago and is now undergoing emergency surgery at PC World ;_; I am without laptop for now, and I feel... almost bereaved XD That's sad. Hopefully should get my baby back tomorrow. It's been a long few days :(

Currently using SONIC, my clunky old desktop PC that now belongs to my mum. SONIC was fast and efficient in its day, but rather decrepit and slow now. As it is, the toolbar and desktop have frozen already and I'm sure it won't belong before I have to reboot the whole thing. Again.

Sigh.

Longer update soon. La la la.

Edit: So, MILES' C:/ drive is busted. Not a driver conflict after all, but rather a physical injury to the hard disc. So on top of the £70 I've already paid, I have to shell out an additional £50 for a new 160GB HDD, plus of course I'll have to reinstall all my programs and apps again :\ Pissed off is putting it mildly!

Maybe you should call Sonic "Uncle Chuck" now since he is old and decrepit.

I am sorry that Miles has died and I also feel my heart ache for Bruiser when he dies... he hasn't died for many a year though, REVIVAL GEL AWAY!

Look forward to longer update.

Haha, maybe! SONIC originally stood for Super Optimum Neo Indestructible Computer (or something like that, I forget O.o), but as that no longer applies, maybe I should find an acronym that works with CHUCK?

Hmm... Computer Has Unfortunately Completely K.O'ed. XD?

Hope the lappy come back as soon as you say. Did you get a virus? Or was the laptop just getting old?

Neither. No virus, and MILESELECTRIC is only a year old. I think I know the problem; I'm 99% sure that a recent automatic update from Microsoft caused a driver conflict (or a similar conflict) somewhere with my existing software. But because I was an idiot and forgot to turn on automatic system restore points, I can't simply revert my system to before the update x.x And MILES wouldn't stay functioning for long enough after boot-up for me to root out the conflict manually. So, to the repair shop it went! (I'm trying hard not to refer to my laptop as "she" XD It's a habit of mine, and it sounds extra weird when my computers are called SONIC and MILES ^^; Heh).

Scratch that. The HDD sustained a physical injury somehow. Damn you, MILES, all you do is sit on my desk! How... how do you even... argh x.x

Any last words for that faithful workhorse-laptop of yours?

Nothing, except "If I'd known it was going to crash so much, I would have kept its original name" >_> Which was TORNADO, by the way.

Gah! Physical injuries to the discs suck because even if you know what you are doing, there is very little you can do to fix it.

I did wonder why I was having such a hard time isolating the problem. It perfectly mimicked a driver conflict error, which I'm usually able to resolve. I don't know much when it comes to the actual hardware though, which is why a physical problem with the disc never occurred to me.

I guess it could be worse; the computer could be a write-off and I could have lost everything. But still, it's a major annoyance ;_;
