Perseids!

Anyone planning on trying to catch a glimpse of the Perseids tonight? I'm hoping that being out in the country and away from light pollution will help. Meteor shower, woot! Mars is supposed to be especially bright, too. The only downside is bright moonlight obscuring some of the fainter streaks... but it's at least supposed to be a clear night. I'm excited!

I was going to try at some point (if I remembered it). I don't know if it's going to be clear here tonight but if it is I'll try to see it.
Was that Mars being so bright? I saw it here last night and was wondering what glorious planet it was. ^_^

Yep, Mars ^^ Should be quite a sight with the Perseids and the (unhelpfully) bright moon tonight...

Best viewing time in the UK is roughly 1 or 2am-ish, I'm told, but they can probably seen starting from about 11pm. They're visible across most of the globe for most of the next two nights, anyway ^^

I'm ready with the camera. I'm not expecting great things though as I've never been able to get a decent picture of a trail. I'll watch whatever happens though :)

If you do get any decent shots, will you post them up? ^^ I'd try to take some myself but I don't have any sort of even semi-decent camera, where as you seem to be quite the photographer hobbyist :)

Sorry, got nothing in the end. I will try again tonight assuming the cloud does clear, but last night was wet and the night before, well, nothing happened O.o
