So, the World Cup is off to a flying start! ^_^ ... kinda.
England played Paraguay today in the Group B opening match, and came away with a 1-0 victory, which is a good start. But it certainly wasn't the best match ever played by the 3 Lions. The only goal came in the fourth minute of play, and wasn't even a proper goal... it was an own-goal deflection off the head of Paruguay's team captain, Gamarra x.x England's second-half performance was pretty naff, too. A few close calls, especially right at the end before and during stoppage time.
It was a win, but not a convincing win. Come on England, you can do better! >/
In other news, it's so hot today that I'm actually not wearing socks. Normally I wear two pairs of socks AND my slippers, 'cause my feet are always coooold. But today, I'm barefoot :P Wow.
It's supposedly gonna stay this hot until next week, when there'll be thunderstorms (WAH!! @_@) to clear the air, and the temperature will drop a few degrees to what looks like a much milder and nicer temperature ^^; Not looking forward to those storms, but a reduction in heat/humidity would definitely be nice.
Well, that's all :P See ya!

Hmm...well, at least they won, even if it wasn't a great performance :D Long as they can keep it up things'll be good.
I'm curious, how hot is so hot? Hehe, I'm almost always barefoot - just feels nicer for me I guess.
Wait, how does a series of thunderstorms make it less humid? It'll cool it down, but the humidity should go up when the rain stops x.x I know from marching band - rain was a double edged sword. No practice, but the next day sucked, a lot ^^;

Date: 2006-06-10 06:18 pm (UTC)Neither Latvia nor Russia made it to the World Cup (O_o for the Russia), so I was kind of baffled whom to support.. Then I checked the list of teams and discovered many good ones.
So, for now, the team I'm the biggest fan of at this championship is:
1. Japan.
Then there go:
2. South Korea
3. Netherlands (that's historical, I've supported them 2 years ago)
4. Ukraine
5. England
6. USA
7. Brazil
etc. :)
