Quick gripe.

Believe it or not, I _do_ try not to complain too much about stuff... but I do wish I didn't have to have migraines. They're just icky. The pain of them makes me want to gouge my eye out with a screwdriver x.o Started just after I woke up, with all the wonderful disappearing vision and all that... I hate that feeling. And then the headache... it only lasted about 4 hours in it's worst form, but it's still lingering now, and it'll probably take a day or so to go completely. I hate to moan, but DAMMIT I hate migraines @_@

Okay, I'm done griping ^^;;

I've never had one before...aren't they basically just a really long headache or is it worse?

It's a specific type of headache. It's over one eye, and it's more severe than most 'stress headaches', as well as being accompanied by other symptoms. There's two types of migraine - common migraine and classical migraine. I get the classical kind, which means that before the headache, I get a visual aura - I see flashing sparkling lights in my vision and parts of my vision disappear. Also, I get numbness in my hand and half of my face. And I loose the ability to talk properly :P Not nice.

They tend to run in families (my mom gets them, too). I've been to the doctor and he prescribed some specific tablets, but they didn't really help. It's just something I have to live with. But thankfully, I don't get them too often ^^;

Aye, no problem on the moaning, they suck. What do you do to try and treat them?

Nothing really works, medication-wise. The only thing I can do is lay down in a darkened room and try to sleep it off, but it's very hard to get to sleep :P Painkillers have no effect, even ones specifically prescribed for migraines. Basically, just have to wait it out x.x

Yup, same for me. I find ibuprofen can take the worst of the headache away but I just have to lay in the dark as well.

Any ideas what trigger yours? I know for me heat, stress and loud music will do it but I get one every 2 or 3 months for no reason.

Stress seems to be the biggest trigger for me, but also if I eat too much salty food, that seems to trigger it too. Too much sun on my head is another trigger. But yeah, sometimes they just come out of nowhere. Like "you haven't had one in a while, so you're due" :P
