Aaah... I see. Well probably because 'kin are often are drawn to dramatic and soap opera-like storylines, which most of the Sonic games lack XD there's only so far you can go with the shallowness of the Station Square world, I guess. Not to mention Archie gives an even BIGGER cast of characters. But who knows? n.n;

I think it's pretty interesting how Archie has become the sole surviving remnant of the Western mythology(Mobius, Sonic being an environmental crusader instead of just a superhero, the focus on anthropomorphic non-human animals, that sort of thing). DIC stopped making Sonic cartoons after Sonic Underground, and the Fleetway comic died around the time Sonic Adventure came out.

So, maybe part of the reason for Archie's popularity is that, while it's incorporating elements of the Station Square era story(Including...that purple cat...thing? What was her name? Maze? Ah, I'll remember eventually), it's still primarily based on Western elements, especially SatAM. It stands out as something unique in this day and age where almost all Sonic media is based in the Station Square status quo.

Though, I am really happy that Sonic has started to eat chili dogs in the console games, even showing, in Black Knight, that he has no problems swallowing them whole.O_o

HA. I AM NOT BLAZE. I AM ROBO EVIL TWIN BLAZE. FROM THE FUTURE.

I BET YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING THAT.

Now this is the part where you say "Of course we weren't expecting it, because it doesn't make sense."

In all seriousness I'm perplexed by this whole "I and every Sonic kin I know is influenced by Archie" thing.O_o

Blazey, you are so random o.o

Yeah, it's a strange thing, huh? n.n; Even folks who have far bigger roles in mainstream Sonic media... Archie must be THE HEART. That, or we just love ourselves sum dramaz XD;

It's not my fault I'm random, blame the writers.XD Lol.^_~

I think as of late Archie has become more of a legitimate "merged Sonic universe." For instance, GUN and the United Federation that Station Square resides in has become more important, without diminishing the Kingdom of Acorn that the Freedom Fighters live in. Also, while we've pretty much had "Demonic Robotnik from SatAM that just looks like cutesy Eggman from the games" for a while, as of issue 200, Robotnik has been truly human and sympathetic for the first time(Even though he was still clearly in the wrong), bringing him a bit closer to his portrayal in the games.

For me though, it's not just the combining of the universes that appeals to me...I was honestly not sure if the new writer and editor were making the "drama for the sake of drama" problem in the book worse or better. But now I feel like things have truly improved in the last three years or so. Drama usually doesn't feel like it's happening "just because," anymore...Things feel a bit more like they were in SatAM, where terrible things happened to the characters, but some sort of hope was always brought out of it.

And the book now seems a lot more about The Power of Friendship and having fun fighting along one's heroic friends/family than about romance. Not that romance is bad, but in this book romance tended to lead to unhappy conflicts, so I'm glad it's been downplayed. The book feels a lot closer to its early days.^_^
