A cold shower. Cold water will help.

It helps for a few minutes ;_; But then it starts right up again. How long does the itching last for? Days? Weeks? D:!

I have heard from various dermatologists that it can last for a month at the very most it depends on how quick your skin can heal and where abouts the tattoo is.

A month at the worst! That is normally if your skin takes forever to heal. Generally, if you can remember, how long has it taken a cut or wound to heal when you've hurt yourself?

It really depends on your skin. I've heard that if you put petroleum jelly and seran wrap over it, it helps prevent one from itching. It doesn't stop the itch, but it helps to prevent you from doing it.

I might give that a try. Hopefully it'll stop itching so much after a few days D:

Saran wrap locks in heat and moisture and breeds bacteria. Your tattoo is basically a wound. I wouldn't do it.

Also the jelly will negatively effect the dyes.

This is one of the main reasons I'm anxious to get a tatoo, I'm bad enough when my skin has a funny reaction to something and I start itching randomly, nevermind that!

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, the itching is worse than the pain of getting the tattoo itself! :P

A few days. It's good you're slapping and not scratching. Put vaseline on it and cover it, that might alleviate it a bit.

IE by a few days I mean, until the scabs fall off, which for me was a few days 'cause it usually is. Some people take longer to heal. But under no circumstances scratch the scabs off!
