Brr! It's almost midday and it's still -2C outside? While I'm sure that's nothing to those living in more arctic climes, it's much below my comfort level :( The one downside of having a whole studio flat to myself is that because it's bigger, totally open-plan, and has two large windows and only one small heater (the same size as the ones in the individual dorm bedrooms in the regular apartments), it never ever warms up in here ^^; Also, the heater is on a half-hour timer, so it goes off all the time. I've learned to survive by wearing three layers (including three pairs of socks + slippers), sipping hot drinks and having a hot water bottle on my lap at all times, but geez... cooooold ;_;
Also, another thing I'm cutting out of my diet right now is caffeine. That's okay, because I have decaff tea, and decaff tea is love. Especially with rice-milk <3
I'm annoyed that my digs have stopped accepting any parcels :\ I found a really good place to mail-order loads of awesome gluten/dairy-free foods, but if they can't deliver here... eh. Jei said I can have it delivered to her place, which is a solution for now, but it still irks me. Nevertheless, I found some fab gluten/dairy-free pasta sauces at Tesco Express yesterday! Even a creamy thai curry sauce - the cream is from coconut milk, so it's non-dairy :) YUM. Also, onion bahjis and popadoms are gluten/dairy-free? SCORE! I need to wait until I've shaped up a bit before I start eating stuff like that, though. I think I'm around 10st right now, and ideally I'd like to get down to somewhere between 9 1/4st and 9 1/2st. That's my ideal weight; where I feel my best. It's doable! I've done it before. I just don't seem to be able to keep it off XD But this time will be different - I'm resolute. My current BMI is within the 'normal' weight-range for my height, so I don't need to worry too much. I look alright. But I'd like to feel better, so I think if I lose a little weight and just tone up some, it could really make a difference.
Gonna go check my mailbox now! I never have anything, so I don't know why I bother XD But you never know!

Date: 2009-01-06 07:51 pm (UTC)Northern parts of Saudi Arabia are covered with snow with schools, mosques and administrative bodies paralyzed, local media reported Friday.
The oil-rich kingdom is being hit with subzero temperatures and snow storms with freezing winds of up to 50 km/h (30mp/h). Some regions have been experiencing problems with water supplies as pipes have frozen, and livestock has died from the cold.
The Saudi Gazette reported late in December that the winter was expected to last 89 days, with temperatures reaching below zero. National media said the winter is the coldest in the country for 20 years.
No, I'm not really that bothered by it and yes, you definitely have the right to complain. I just found it slightly amusing and note-worthy, almost. ^^;;

Date: 2009-01-08 11:04 pm (UTC)The thought of you losing weight seems kinda foreign to me 'cause you always seemed pretty skinny from the photos I've seen of you, but I'm glad you're committing to something that will make you feel better.
Funny you should mention a curry made with coconut milk, because that's two of my favorite foods rolled into one.
