I had no idea it would upset me so much. I've continued to hold a candle for Team Rocket even though they're not my central obsession anymore, but even so, I didn't expect to feel so crushed. It's almost like something horrible happened to Meowth himself, even though Maddie was replaced some time ago. Maddie was Meowth.
There's been some skepticism over the lack of official sources, but 4Kids now have an announcement up, so... it's pretty much official.
Damn. 48 is too young. MEEEOWTH!
