This is getting ridiculous. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions for relieving persistent nausea as a side-effect of medication? x.o I've barely eaten anything for three days now, and even a small slice of toast is enough to make me feel si~ick to my stomach. I'm sick of feeling sick >P

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"Symptomatic treatment for nausea and vomiting may include short-term avoidance of solid food. This is usually easy as nausea is nearly always associated with loss of appetite. Dehydration may require rehydration with oral or intravenous electrolyte solutions. If the cause is by motion sickness, sitting down in a still environment may also help.

There are several types of antiemetics, and researchers continue to look for more effective treatments. The main types used post operatively for surgical patients are ondansetron, dexamethasone, promethazine, diphenhydramine, and in small doses droperidol. Doxylamine is the drug of choice in pregnancy-related nausea. Anecdotally, another remedy used by recovery room nurses is to place an isopropyl alcohol swab under the patient's nose while he or she breathes through the nose. This may abate the nausea until the antiemetic medication takes effect.[citation needed] When ingested or inhaled, the chemical compound tetrahydrocannabinol has been shown to reduce nausea in some users.[1] Also available are a variety of non-invasive (often untested) mechanical devices used to suppress nausea due to motion sickness.

The spices ginger and peppermint have also been used for centuries as a folk remedy to treat nausea, and recent research has supported this use."

So it looks like to deal with side-effects of medication...you take more medication =P

Yes, tend to have medication for anything.
However, not adviced to use any of those without consulting the docter :\

Mixing medicine is dangerous when you don't know what your doing.
(especially in the kind of medication he is using right now)

hmmzz..
Not much advice I can give you on that..
Depending on how and how much medication you have ach day, if possible, you could try taking the medication on a full stomach.
I may not help much on the general nausea in general, but at least you'l be able to have something kept in before you start to weaken over the little food you are able to keep in or eat.

I don't really know anything that would help here, perhaps try to rest and try to keep a normal eating habit regardless.
Such added symptoms of medication can become less or even go away completely after a longer period of using the medication, if it doesn't and you continue to have difficulties with it...you can also contact your docter to prescribe an alternative which may have less (serious) side effects on you.

Not sure if this would work in your situation, but maybe you could try using some sort of carbonated beverage as a "home remedy" for nausea.

At any rate, I agree with what Helios said about consulting your doctor before taking any other medication, so as to prevent dangerous complications.

Hey Jai!!
I would ask how you are but from this entry, it sounds like not so good. :( I'm sorry!! I know the feeling; I had really bad food poisoning once and even after I had gotten it all out and even stopped feeling nauseous altogether, I STILL didn't want to eat; it sucks. I wanted to go to the freakin hospital and have them stick an IV in my arm, just so I wouldn't starve/dehydrate but, since I wasn't getting sick anymore no one thought it neccesary...sigh. Nausea/stomach sickness/upset-ness is a bitch; it's certainly my worst enemy. >.<;; Anyway, I really hope you feel better soon; is there perhaps a lighter dose of this medication you could take that wouldn't be so hard on your stomach? And medicines that do that you're supposed to take with food anyway...but when I get really nauseous, pepto bismol (tablets) or dramamine always fixes it right up; you have that stuff in london, right?? lol. And then there's perrier/7-up/ginger ale...other than that I don't know what you could do. If all else fails, of course, call your doctor. So, other than this I hope you're doing well, and Jei too. I'm doing pretty well myself. ^.^ Here's some good news I hope will help you to feel better, somewhat (lol): TRHQ has been revived!! This is what made me think of you; heh... http://p099.ezboard.com/bteamrocketheadquaterss after all this time, it's back!! Crazy huh? Well, my babe and I have to get up early for church in the morning, so I need to get to bed, but again I really hope you feel better soon!! Take care and write back when you feel up to it, please!! <3
Much love,
Kally
