flyboy_foxWaa... I really love the first piece of music on the new Sonic Rush Adventure minisite ^^; It's so very Rush-esque, and it's just fun! Thanks, Flyfox/Don, for sourcing the URLs of the mp3s on the Sega site with your Flash decompiler thing so they could be downloaded :D *Plays en-loop*
Aaanyway, I went to that product day on Thursday. Freebies much? XD By the time I came home, I had a whole carrier-bag FULL of promotional goodies. Mugs, mousemats, memory sticks, t-shirts, cooler boxes, stress-balls, keychain-bottle-openers, notebooks, golf tees (?!), lanyards... and of course, plenty of candy. Almost every table piled us high with mints and lollipops and mini chocolate bars. I also picked up a bag of those Alphabet Candies... you know, those little chalky sweets that come in all the letters of the alphabet! I haven't seen those in YEARS!
So before I demolished them, I decided to spell out a couple of very important messages:
Ahem :) So yeah. For once I'll be happy to eat my words! (*groan*)
So, the product day was fine, if a little tedious. Some of the tables were kind of interesting, and I suppose I did learn a fair bit. Also, I decided I really want a Garmin Sat-Nav. Doesn't matter that I don't have a car... I want a Sat-Nav, darn it! :P
But the end of the day sucked. I've gotta go work at Bristol Winterstoke next week, even though I was told specifically that I wasn't gonna be moved :P Aww well. Thems the breaks.
My brother and mom are in London right now. I was going to go with them but I ended up staying for a number of reasons. I feel bad that I'm not there, though... I got off the phone a little while ago after talking to my mom, and she was in tears of frustration and worry not knowing what to do about my dad. He's nearly 80 now, and he's starting to get very frail and confused... and now, with the lease on the apartment expiring on Monday, he's about to be homeless. My mom and I REALLY don't want him living with us again... he's done so much damage already and his position is his OWN damn fault. But how can we just kick him out onto the streets? We can't. Ugh. It's an impossible situation. It looks like my mom will have to pay at least another £350 for two weeks rent while we try to get the council to house him. He'd probably be better off back in Colombia, but he has nowhere to go, there, either. Argh... x.x It's just... yeah... argh.
But anyway! We have SKY TV now! Granted, we had it back in London, so it's nothing new... but it's nice to have more channels than 1, 2, 3 and 'random Welsh channel'. The only problem is that it interferes with the phoneline, so you have to unplug SKY if you're making a call. But that's okay. I called out the telephone engineer last night and he came to the house this morning and tinkered with the lines a bit, and it works better now. It's funny, I'm almost 23 and should be perfectly at ease with doing things like calling out repair people in the absence of my mom. But I still feel proud of myself whenever I take the initiative and do something like that XD
Oh yeah, and the repair guy said to me, "I couldn't help noticing that you seem to love the little blue guy". He must've looked in my room XD Anyway, we had a good long chat about Sonic, and that was fun. Aww, I love when people refer to Sonic as "the little blue guy". It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic ^_^
Well, some of my friends ARE finally leaving LJ due to all the difficulties, punctuated by SODAGATE '07. I'm not happy either (in fact, I'm so certain it's a breech of 6A's paid-user contract that I filed a report with the BBB), but I won't be leaving LJ unless the whole 'site collapses. I've been here too long and invested too much. LiveJournal is like my workshop in the Mystic Ruins. Seriously, that's what it's like to me. A place to be serious and a place to relax at the same time. Somewhere I can go to get away from the rest of the world, yet still be part of somewhere. Somewhere that I've poured effort into and that I feel is just mine. A secret place that only my friends know where to find. It sounds so lame to be so attached to a journal, but the network I'm part of here is the one I'd truly call 'home'. I'll be damned if I'm gonna leave just because of a few hitches! I'll stay here as long as the majority of my friends are here. And I'll continue to fight for things to change and for 6A to pull its finger out and start respecting its paying users. But I won't jump ship. Sorry. This place means too much to me.

If I fiddled with the antennae (which had a coathanger twisted into it), I could get a staticy channel from Bahrain on one TV. On the other, if we messed with it, we could get a staticky Iranian channel. O_o Very weird. xD I thought I mentioned this before, but it seems I didn't... hm.
