I don't like aging up. I already aged up 8-year-old SEGA-canon Tails to 12 >.> Sonic characters aren't like 'real' people. Therefore their ages shouldn't necessarily equate a particular maturity. Sonic characters fly planes, save planets, even fire guns. Why can't they have sex too? ;_;

While I'm not sure Tails specifically has that kind of emotional maturity just yet, I do see your point. And at the end of the day, an eight-year-old 'real' fox is mature!

But imagining how he might look in ten years is still fun, I think. Even aside from all this hullabaloo.

At the end of the day, the point is, it's fandom. How many different universes are there already, anyway? Different ages in each one, too XD Anywhere from 4 - 14. I don't post hardcore stuff. I never have. I make PG-13 allusions, and therefore I'm probably perfectly safe. But I don't like the thought that any further could get me deleted... just for writing/drawing smut ^^; Which I don't do, as I've said. But I'm still gonna get self-righteous about it :P

All joking aside, I think it's a good policy. Still, catch-alls are tricky, and we're dealing with a pretty unique universe in this case. Even without that... well, for instance, such circumstances(in a far less cute way)are a pretty central part of one of my fiction character's background, and now I can get banned for alluding to what makes this character what he is? Humbug, I say. It's a sticky thing... and quite frankly, much as I might disapprove of a lot of shota/lolicon work, they're fictional characters. We're not exactly Pedo International here. If I want cute Sontails fluff(or less fluff as the case may be*cough*)or deal with Ilya's background... well, it's not a real kid's problem, is it?

I'm also surprised by their decision to unveil this new wording immediately before the new Harry Potter book is released o.o The HP fans were the ones who were most up in arms by having their loli/shota/slash communities suspended. Methinks they'll be the source of much ire again this time ^^;

It shouldn't matter if it offends some people, if it's not illegal. No one is being FORCED to look at it, and even if I put it friends-only with a huge warning tag, it would still be taken down by this policy. I AM very tempted to test the limits though... XD;

My thoughts exactly :\ If I put it behind a cut-tag and say beforehand that it's explicit and deals with characters who are technically minors... what's the problem?

Another thing that bothers me is that the policy refers to a minor as "under 18", but in the UK and other countries and even some American states, the age of consent is 16 :\ So the policy is including smut about 17-years-olds as 'underage', when in many places it isn't!

I'm not sure when a fox reaches sexual maturity, but I'm guessing it's within eight years. Not sure about hedgehogs either.

So, that's why everybody is freaking out.

As I see it, there's plenty of other sites that DO allow that sort of content, in fact, there's quite a few sites that focus purely on that. (Note, I'm refering to fanfiction/fanart/not real.) So why freak out because -one- site happened to suddenly ban it?

If I drew or wrote that sort of stuff, I'd probably be putting it on a different site in the first place, a site more suited to that kind of content.

Hah, hi there!

Well, the whole thing isn't really even relevent to my interests (I don't post anything hardcore), but I just thought it was an interesting talking point.

The thing with LJ is that it's a lot more community-based than most 'sites that just 'host' stuff. Also, a lot of people have built up a whole network here of sharing their art/fics and discussing things related to those ideas. It would be very difficult to transfer an entire community elsewhere.

I can see why some people are worried/upset, but I do think some people ARE blowing it a little out of proportion. It's annoying, I'm sure, but it's not armageddon.
