... okay. I admit it. I'm finally starting to get a liiittle annoyed by Arisu XP Don't any of you say a thing! I'm not gonna blow up about it here, 'cause... yeah. We know what kinda grief that sorta thing causes. Well, if she wants to accuse me of treating her unfairly, fine x.x I defended her more than I wanted to, and now I've got ill-feeling from both sides. So much for being diplomatic XD Sometimes there's just no way to win 9_9

Aaanyway, that aside... I've got more problems ;_; I found another University up north... the University of Teesside. It does an AWESOME Games Design course, complete with a year's placement at a company such as Rare, Dreamworks, or IBM. It's also internationally recognised for excellence in its games design, games art, and games science courses, uses industry-standard software and hardware throughout the course, and the school hosts the Animex games and animation festival, one of the UK's largest games and animation expos. Sounds too good to be true, huh? Well... it probably is :\ I already applied to six schools via UCAS. I can't apply for another or change my preferences. The ONLY way to apply for this one is if I cancel my ENTIRE application, which means rejecting ALL the offers I've had so far, and then apply for this one via UCAS Extra, which is their clearance procedure. It would be a huge risk, because the entry standards are much higher on this course (220 - 280 tariff points as opposed to 160 for, say, UEL), and if I don't get in... well... I'd have no other schools to fall back on and I'd have to wait another whole year to apply through UCAS again x.x Soooo... I don't know what to do ^^; If it was closer, I'd just visit it... but... it's about 300 miles away x.x It's in Middlesbrough. Which is waaaaay up north, near Carlisle XD So... this is gonna need some heavy thought. Why is University stuff so complex?! >P

Gah, the thunderstorm is back ^^; Curse you, British weather! (It's providing adequate mood-music XD)

Reminded me of something I read on a TR site that made me laugh for four minutes.

>>>Pokémon 2000: The Power of One *****
Synopsis: Some guy steals Moltres and Zapdos, the weather goes nuts and threatens to kill everyone, everyone in England doesn't notice any difference in the weather, Jessie and James help save the day, Tracey is as usual useless

It's Roses Are Red. ^^

"and now I've got ill-feeling from both sides"

::Huggles Flyboy:: We still love you ^^ I guess if ya don't want to get into it here, then I won't say anything else ^^;;

About the university stuff - I know it sounds really really awesome and all, but honestly, I think your best course of action will be to stay with what you have. It's kinda...too much of a risk, I'd think. If you have to cancel all the other applications and offers, I just can't see it as worth that chance. A degree is a degree, and lots of people fail to see that at first glimpse. It's similar to a GPA - graduating with a 3.5 as opposed to a 2.5...one still gets the degree. When it comes down to it, if I got my bachelors from MIT or some other awesome tech school...it wouldn't get me much more in a job than my (hopeful) degree at St. Mary's. Risk is always so tempting to take, and if you end up really wanting to go for it, then do it. Sounds kinda like your desire is telling you 'yes,' but your logic is telling you 'probably not.'

::Hugs:: Thanks Lunar ^^

Wah... but the course looks so good :\ None of the other courses offer a paid 3rd year work-placement... and none of the others have a gaming expo hosted right there in the school... and none of the others seem to have access to such professional resources. Thing is, I'm not really that bothered about the actual degree... I just want to do a really good worthwhile course... one that's interesting and fun and that will get me really involved. I just wish I'd noticed this school before I submitted my UCAS application x.x

::hugs:: Things like this are going to happen, whether we think we can control what is going to take place or not. That's just a fact, unfortunately :/

I'm with Lunar, I honestly wouldn't risk it if it's going to jeopardize your academics. Just stick to what you have for now and make the most of it. At least you would have something to on for a good career choice. Whatever you do decide though, make sure you don't rush into it and go with the choice you feel most comfortable making. No regrets right?

I know, it's a huge risk... but it looks so much better than the other courses :P So... yeah... it's just annoying that it's so far away, so I can't check it out easily :\

When I became a mod at MF I asked for my new position to be hidden. Knowing people like I do, they'd call me a bully if I spoke my mind too much just because I had a red name.

If you do anything besides totally agree with her you're a bully.

Now saying you're a little annoyed with her? That would be considered a travesty, she'll go apeshit crazy on you and start yelling (or so I predict, we all know how well MY predictions go ^^;)

Yes, I know aaalll about your predictions :P Sometimes being a mod/admin feels more problematic than good, just 'cause if you say anything, people think you're abusing your status ^^; But most of the time it's good being one, so, yeah, I wouldn't give it up.

What else have I predicted before?

an- HEY! What's that supposed to mean?

As amazing as that course sounds, I agree with the others, it's not worth the risk. (Don'tcha just wish you could turn back time at times, in case ya didn't get in?)

And didn't the whole thing with Arisu get sorted already? (No offence)

Date: 2006-03-11 11:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] flyboy-fox.livejournal.com
Yeah, I really wish I could control time so I could redo things, and make sure I got onto a course ^^; Oh well...

Don't take the chance with the university. You have assurances already lined up, if it wasn't for that I'd say it "might" be worth the risk. But looking at this from my angle, me being someone who loves to take risks, is the probability of you being accepted there high enough to take the risk? From the way you speak I don't think it is, so it's not a risk worth taking.

And CO's going through it's "Spin the wheel for today's weather!" bullshit again, lol. It's was 70s to start the week, then snowed hard for a day, then it's cloudy and snowed for 5 minutes and stops, what the hell? x.x

Are we all worked out now, I thlught we were but from this I'm not completely sure if we are or not now... I know I haven't seen youy online recently, not sure why that is either...

We're definitely all worked out, Miles, don't worry ^^

As for me not being online... long story... x.x I'm having to sneak online in shorts bursts while my brother isn't home ^^; Hopefully I'll get this sorted 9_9

Why does it matter if your brother's home or not? I mean he's no saint, but...(If ya don't mind me asking that is)

We are joking in Poland about British weather ^^ When I was in England, I remember when 5 minutes was sunny and hot, and 10 minutes was rainy and cold. I didn't know what to wear ^^

*hugs* don't be sad :(
