flyboy_foxMan I feel like shite today. Not in a bad mood or anything... just physically feel like crap. Started last night with a backache that slow got worse until it was killer, and today I'm just aching all over and feeling generally not-well. Ah well, thank goodness for hot water bottles, ibuprofen and green tea, eh? ::Grin:: I gotta be happy... the green tea compels me!
I had stuff to talk about, but my brain's gone blank O.o
Oh yeah. I was gonna do that loooong Sonic survey... meme... thing that's been going around. Where it asks you for views on all the characters and pairings and incarnations etc. Well actually, I DID fill it in. But then I read over my answers and thought better of posting it n.n; I only like a handful of characters and one or two pairings. I've been told off for being a 'CLASSIX FANBOI!!1', but that's not it, either. Heck, it's not like I ever really even played the old games a whole lot XD; I just... have a very set view of the Sonicverse and the majority of newer stuff just doesn't fit in it. Therefore I just don't have much to say. If it was a survey about Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and maybe Amy and Robotnik, I'd have a lot to say. Also, some of the SatAM cast. I could also go on for a while about AoStH and a little about SatAM. Those are the things closest to home. I just feel so displaced with all the new stuff XD; Which is ironic because I grew up on Nintendo and actually totally missed Sonic during his glory days n.n;;

I went back to bed and slept for a couple hours and now I probably won't be sleepy tonight n.n; Aww well. I can finish typing this post now o.o
By the way, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics o.o The concept baffles me yet fascinates me at the same time... I wanna believe it'll be good and fun, but I can't help thinking it's really just a giant 2008 Bejing cash-in n.n; A big ol' advertising campaign for the event. I'm also somewhat concerned about how they're gonna level the playing field (or track :P) to accommodate for the different talents and skills of the vastly differing cast. I mean, it's a given that Sonic would own any track events where speed is the element. How would they make it in any way fair for the other contestants without either giving the other characters a severe boost up, or severely downgrading Sonic's speed. I'm betting on the second, because if the track races were run at Sonic's speed, they'd be over in like 2 seconds, and where would be the fun in that? n.n; Also I wonder how well he'll be able to swim... technically, I suppose, they'll have him be able to swim fine. Although later games have implied that he doesn't like water, it's mainly the TV shows that have fully built on that. After all, Sonic's swum just fine in water levels throughout his gaming career n.n; But still... it's pretty much a given within the fandom that Sonic either can't swim or isn't very good at it, and that either way, he's not fond of water if it's not in a glass n.x; Aaanyway... confirmed events include the 100m dash, swimming, and... table tennis! :D Dunno why, but I can't help picturing various characters from both fandoms going head-to-head in a heated round of Olympic... ping-pong XD;
I had a pretty weird dream the other night where this world and the Sonicverse world were merging, and Angel Island was descending from the sky... only it turned out it wasn't a natural island after all; it was a spaceship powered by internal technology. And there were aliens that had helmets that made them look like SWATbots, but they were 'living' and wore combat gear with black ribbed vests over the top. It was a pretty vivid dream o.o I was scared n.n;; But in retrospect it was actually kinda cool, I guess.

Date: 2007-04-14 09:23 pm (UTC)SatAM seems to be the only series where Sonic can swim, I've noticed. (He dove into the ring pool after Griff stole the stone.) Sonic X and the old OAV both make plot points of him being unable to swim; I don't remember it being covered in AoStH. In the games he can move freely in the water but not swim; remember how in the Chaos battle in SA, if you lost Super Sonic form you died? So, I'd guess he can't, and SatAM can be explained by saying the ring pool is shallow/hardbottomed enough for him to simply launch himself up to get out. (He has to have strong legs, right?)

In AoStH Sonic was a very good swimmer. One episode had him swimming from one continent across the world to another in a matter of about 20 seconds. Then again, in AoStH he could pretty much do anything ^^; It wasn't very realistic. The Archie comics have been inconsistant. In the early days, they showed him as a perfectly competant swimmer. In later issues, they gradually addressed his dislike of water. It seems to be something that's grown over the years. I think it's generally accepted, though, that water is his biggest weakness. I don't think Olympic Swimming is for him :P
