Well, considering how internetisized USA are :) If a thing like that happened, internet sure wouldn't remain the same, right.. ^_^
Probably the Americans don't think this way about Europe.. Or maybe it's just that I got used to thinking that the most popular internet sites are the American ones, like the LiveJournal or Wikipedia, but I guess they have servers in Europe too.
It's a well known fact that if internet was to dissapear, 90% of the western world would instanously implode :)
The underdeveloped countries and others who didn't had internet yet are saved from disaster. And those on dial up will discover the loss of internet in such a slow rate they may actually have a chance surviving the holocaust as well! (so in turn the new internet would be build up with people using dial up, and the previously underdeveloped countries get a chance to develop in their own pace and re-populate the world!)
Wow, that can be both scary and interesting... Anyone care to find out? *playfully tugs the world internet plug* =p
Well, from another point of view.. Initially internet was designed as a net that would still work even if a part of it failed, then it was used by the military.. So it won't fail completely.. :)
Ah, but that would be if only "part" of it failed. Even though very unlikely to happen, it would mean all computers with internet capability implode, all wireless cards/modules and internet cables burn through and simply no connection is possible between computers in any way. (this includes smaller (LAN) networks inside companies or universities)
The most effective way would be an EMP pulse or complete global power failure, but especially an EMP pulse it would put the entire world back to something of a (modern) stone age. Everyone is so relying on electronics and use of electricity of various kinds, such a thing would be disastorous and cause riots and civil wars al over.
But it's not like Internet is likely to ever dissapear as always some form will excist ,even in simple LAN networks, unless no computer would ever again be able communicate/connect with any other computer which is simply put, impossible as long as computers excist.
Well, Internet by its definition cannot be a simple LAN network :) Though I know what you mean, and that sounds quite true (although I remember scenarios in some games where everything went much worse).
Mm.. A stone age ^_^ You know, that's what some people want. I mean, there are quite many people who are tired of the "civilization", or more like.. Modern civilization's impact on the world. One my friend thinks that way, and I do so too at least partially..
European server of gmail seems to have a problem (possible server overload?), and ssmb I don't know. He, it's been a very long time since being on the board, just simply drifted away from it after a while.
Prefer smaller boards now, which I can still keep up with in a busy life. Though, after the mystic boards i'm not on any boards anymore.
I wonder if they would even recognise me on the ssmb.. Dreadknux and Roareye are sure as hell still know me, but the rest?
To clarify, the problem we are referring to in the previous post concerns a percentage of our users seeing 'Server Errors' and 'Oops' messages when trying to log in to their Gmail accounts. We realize that many of you depend on Gmail to communicate and assure you that all hands are on deck to fix the error. While we do not have an exact time until resolution to offer, this is currently our top priority and we'll continue to post updates as they become available.

Sorry if anyone finds this offensive, I didn't mean to, I have a cousin living there too, so please understand I don't want to be rude. -_-
