On a completely different note...
Mar. 7th, 2007 07:15 pm... I had my interview at Newport School of Art, Media and Design today. It went pretty well.
However, I decided to switch from Computer Games Design over to Animation, instead. I think it suits me better. What I love in video-games has never actually been the gaming itself. It's the characters and the worlds and the story and narrative that keeps me interested. I don't really want to make games. I want to tell stories. But the cool thing with Animation is you can take it to a video game company and still get hired. So I can still choose that path if I want. But for the long haul, three/four years in Uni, I think Animation is more where I wanna be.
Also, I can now add Wales to the list of countries I've visited: England (where I live), Ireland, France, Spain, Cyprus, Gran Canaria, Italy, North America, and now Wales ^_^ Shame about the £5.10 crossing toll though; not cheap! And getting a little lost in Caerleon... I kept missing the signs in English because the Welsh translations were distracting me. Welsh is a pretty language... but I still don't understand how any word can start with "ysb" XD (I know, I know, some of the roman letters adapted make very different sounds in Welsh, but I can't help that it looks odd to me :P). I think I'd like it in Newport... the surrounding areas are very green and hilly, and it's only 40 miles away, which is less than an hour by car.
I haven't decided on Newport though. I like it, but there's still other schools to see!

Date: 2007-03-07 08:20 pm (UTC)Don't even attempt saying the words though... a previous friend of mine pronounced the Welsh word "Brynbuga" (which is Usk, a place near where I live) as "brain bugger". ^^;; The actual way to pronounce is "brin-boog-er" XD

Date: 2007-03-07 09:18 pm (UTC)I think that long town name has something to do with the Virgin Mary resting in a red cave of some sort... I dunno.
But most of the towns here have Welsh names. For example, my home town Pontypool which is Pont-y-pwl (put a roof over the w, you know ^ symbol) is "Bridge over Water".
Another close town Cwmbran is "Valley of the Crows"... but it should be "Valley of the Roundabout" cos there seems to be an infinite supply of roundabouts in Cwmbran. XD
Services = Gwasanaethau, I think.

Date: 2007-03-08 03:22 am (UTC)Newport is a nice place (I live in West Wales myself), however the Welsh alphabet is different from that of the English one, anyway.
The toll cross is terrible though, I think the Welsh Assembly government should buy the seventh bridges and make it free.
Anyway good luck with whatever location you choose to study, and I hope you do well in course.
