Oh, I almost forgot, happy day of Dyddiad Dewi Sant (St. David's Day) to any and all the Welsh or Wales-related people on my friends list ^_^ Have a great one!

(On that note... wonder if I should brush up on some Welsh/Cymraeg, seeing as I might be studying in Wales come September...)

Yeah, a couple of the Unis I applied to are in Wales... Newport, Swansea, and... I forget the other, I think there's one more. They'd be my first choice since I'm so near to Wales anyway ^^

Oh yeah, I wanted to ask something... do most people in Wales speak Welsh? Is it used a lot, or mainly English? Do you speak Welsh? ^^

As far as I know, they actually speak Englisch mostly.
Almost everyone understands Welsh there, but most if not all can at least speak Englisch as well so you should be okay.

I did hear they actually give courses in Welsh though..But that may be limited to only a few schools/universities.
I'm neither Welsh nor even the slightest bit Englisch, but I was actually planning on at least spend a few years in Cardiff to work at the univerity there as Researcher.

So if you find a good/effective way of learning Welsh please tell me about it as well :)

You're correct, yes. For the most parts, us Welsh are English speakers (less than 10% of us actually speak Welsh, and the majority of them are in North Wales.)

1) No, I don't speak Welsh, I'm rubbish at the language
2) Yes, in compulsory education, Welsh is compulsory
3) I don't dislike English, and some don't detest English. Some do HOWEVER detest being called English, so watch out. I don't really like the anti-English Welsh anyway. *shrugs*

Hmm... well, I'll have to try my best not to annoy anyone ^^; Maybe they won't mind me so much, since I'm coming from Weston-super-Mare, which is practically in Wales... at least, I can see Wales from my window across the bay! ^_^ ::Waves::

well it's only going to be a loose future plan to see a bit of the world and get some nice work experiences, especially such things look good on the CV.

It won't be for a while, first my master course..and perhaps a year or two work in my own country before I doing anythign abroad.
Either way, i'd at least would like to try to learn a few words in Welsh if only so I can read/understand it.

I just think that's the least you can do..
I hate French for example, but at least I can read/understand it.
Don't ask me to write or speak it though, that's still terrible.

I actually have an interview at Newport next Wednesday... it's one of the Unis I'm most interested in getting into ^^ If I get in, I'd definitely be able to visit you at some point! :)
