You know what's kinda sad? The Polikarpov I-153 (a Soviet biplane circa late 1930s, nicknamed "Chaika"), which the Tornado II was almost certainly based off design-wise, was actually a pretty glitchy 'plane :\ It wasn't terribly aerodynamic, and therefore suffered from low speed and the inability to easily pull out of a spin. Its design also meant poor visibility, and it had low structural integrity. Overall, certainly not the most successful biplane ever to take to the air during WWII.

The original Tornado, as far as I know, wasn't based directly off any existing design... but I love it for its simplicity, and the red and gray just fit, you know? I also love how the 'plane is actually Sonic's... his name on the side, and everything.

The most awesome little biplane ever! :D

Oh, oh! Jei found this guy selling a Tiger Moth ;_; She said she'd get it for me if she was a millionaire. I dunno what kinda price that would go for... a fair few thousand, I'd wager. The color-scheme is kinda like the Tornado II, heh n.n; Well, too much yellow, but still. I'd repaint it red, of course. Tiger Moth is the only biplane I've had the chance to fly so far (and pretty briefly at that), but I'd love to own one. It's a training plane, I know... two sets of controls and all that... but I don't need a military plane, and the Tiger Moth is pretty much perfect as a recreational airplane. Visibility is good, handling is sensitive but secure, very responsive, capable of turning awesomely, lightweight and small... pretty much perfect as a hobby plane! And if I wanted to recoup back some money, I could give lessons in my spare time ^_^ I'll own one someday. No doubt about that.

Sorry, Jei and I were talking about biplanes earlier and I'm all hyped up now ^^;;
