Arrr, this be a foyne crop this year! ;)
Dec. 16th, 2006 01:30 amYou know what makes me laugh? Stupid assumptions. Like somehow, living in Weston-super-Mare means oi au'orrrmatically taaawk loik this 'ere. Hah! XD I happen to like the West Country accent, when it's subtle rather than overbearingly strong. It's friendly and warm. But really, less than 5% of the people I've spoken to here have any hint of it. And besides, I've been living here for only three months XD After 21* years of living in London, I don't think I'll be speaking in a Bristol accent for quite a while. But hey, if people want to assume that all people living in the West Country are country bumpkins, that's fine by me. I can think of plenty of stereotypes for them too :)
*okay not perfectly true. I spent about a year in Miami when I was a baby, but I don't remember it so it doesn't count :P
