Whelp XD My job didn't last very long. I guess I'm just not cut out for Telemarketing/Sales. I'm not too cut up about it... Being told very fairly and respectfully that I was far too technical-oriented and that I'd suit the I.T. field much better was kind of a compliment in a way. I'm not an aggressive pushy person, and while the people I worked with were really nice and friendly people, they are TOLD that they need to possess a quality of arrogance and presumptiveness because it's that trait which gets them sales. I'm not that kind of a person. No amount of training or coaching will make me that kind of a person. (Miles says of course that if he were in charge, he could have pulled it off with no problem... but honestly he's not too bothered about losing the job either.) It wasn't a disaster. I didn't make any sort of horrible mistake or fail to achieve what I was supposed to in the training week. But a one-to-one with my Campaign Manager ended with the conclusion that I just don't have the particular right ambition for it. There's the potential to be placed within an I.T. company 18 months to two years down the line, but as Kirk (my CM) said to me, why push myself through two years of a job I don't want to do when there are much more straightforward ways into the I.T. field? No love lost. I'll have to start looking for work again, but I did get a fair few leads before, so hopefully it will be that way again. It was a learning experience, anyway ♥

The only thing I'm a little annoyed about right now is that the toll of the past few days combined with a packed office-block full of contagious people has whacked my immune system down a notch and I'm pretty certain I'm getting a cold. That's unfortunate 'cause I wanted to enjoy my long weekend before I hit the job-hunt again on Monday >_>; Oh well.

Edit: LOL. I just got an email telling me that my paid LJ account has expired (for, like, the first time in 4 years since I always pay it on time) and I thought "Oh, well, no problem. I can spare $5 for a couple months of time until I have money to buy more". Then I looked at my bank balance and no I can't. I have less than £5 less in there with £22 due to come out any day now XD Fuuuuck. Bad time to lose a new job, worse time for LJ to expire (yes I'm more sad about LJ than worried about bills GO FIGURE :D). I could beg for more time from kind people, but that would be pretty low of me... so how about:

Would anyone like to very kindly commission me for icons/blinkies/fic etc? I'll do any of that stuff for $5. God I'm an LJ whore. I cannot live with only 6 icons ;_;

I'm totally fine with call centres (I worked an I.T. helpdesk for a while), but outbound sales (i.e. cold-calling) is what I just can't do. If they're calling ME because they already decided they want/need something, that's fine. No problem. If I have to call THEM and convince them that they want/need something... ugh. Never again. Those 200-or-so calls I made each represent a chip off my ego that will take a while to grow back XD;

That's from Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog, not Sonic the Comic (which is by Fleetway) XD And yes, I've already seen that over at SSMB and was the person who commented on it. I saw many things that did not look 'right' about that 'water' XD;;
