I just finished reading Sonic Universe #15. Not much to say about the issue except for one thing. Sally punching Fiona in the gut hard enough to make her double over when Fiona was trying to mess with Tails' head was EPIC. Most awesome thing I've seen Sally do in a while. She just stalks right over and BAM.

Actually, I have to capture the moment for great posterity. Brb!

Boys will be boys. Sally's expression is priceless. Archie, you haven't always been fair to Sally... but you have taken GREAT steps redeeming her here.

"A real bitch" is putting it lightly.

She started out seemingly as a 'good guy', joining the Freedom Fighters. Tails had a crush on her because he had fallen in love with a robot version of her some time ago on a solo mission. Sonic ended up dating her for a while, which was pretty assholish of him really (guy code states you don't date the girl your best friend likes), but so far so average...

Basically also this whole time Fiona was being a bitch to Tails, being really snarky to him behind Sonic's back like a two-faced ho. When Tails caught Sonic and Fiona together and ran off in tears, Fiona stopped Sonic from running after him. Sonic's to blame too. He was weak-willed and stupid. But Fiona was just plain MANIPULATIVE.

But then while this was going on, Scourge (anti-Sonic) arrived and Fiona fell for him and decided she wanted to become 'evil'. So she was cheating on Sonic with Scourge, while at the same time helping him in his plans. Tails caught her with Scourge and alerted Sonic, and all hell broke loose. There was a big brawl, including a lovely moment where Tails was telling Fiona that he believed in her and that she didn't have to defect to evil because he trusted that she was still a good person. She acted all sweet for a for moments to lure him in, and then slapped him hard enough to send him flying. From there on, she was just a pure bitch with absolutely no care for Sonic, Tails, or any of the Freedom Fighters who took her in and helped her when she was in need.

Later on, when Sonic and Tails had a HUGE fight and Tails wound up punching Sonic, Fiona was the catalyst. Apparently Sonic only dated her to help Tails get over her. Some friend :P

But ANYWAY, since then, Fiona was a member of the Suppression Squad led by Scourge until Miles (anti-Tails) led a mutiny against Scourge and took over. Fiona escaped and went back to the Destructix.

That's a long story short, cutting out a huge amount of what happened. But basically in the panels above from the latest issue, she's trying to get Sonic and co to side with her against another force. When Sonic was reluctant, she tries to get Tails to help her by pretending to be all nice and saying that he knows she's still good at core (which is bullshit).

Sally saw right through it of course ♥ Enough is enough.

I'm afraid my brief synopsis isn't enough to show how much of a bitch "Fi" is, but it might at least explain a little of why I dislike her so much ^^;

Sally has her moments. The comics haven't always showed the best side of her, but she's downright awesome here ^^

I didn't watch SatAM when I was younger, either. Only AoStH. I was actually a Nintendo fanbrat most of my childhood, so I didn't really give SEGA stuff a proper look. Now, of course, I have a house FILLED with SEGA consoles, merchandise, etc. How the times change...

What got me into Sonic was Sonic Underground. It aired here and it had music, which captivated me -and got me into art. Then I tried buying all the games I could... since my family loves games I ended up at a point getting some games and obsessed over Sonic once more, ~

I'm still not entirely sure where this apparent hatred stems from...I mean, I don't mean to be condescending, and I wholeheartedly apologize if that is the way I'm coming across.^_^;;

It's just that...well, I don't see why evil, deceptive, manipulative Fiona has to be the real Fiona. It's an invention of Ian Flynn that wasn't originally there...it's retroactive continuity. It's kind of like how Hal Jordan, one of the Green Lanterns, and a hero for decades, suddenly became Parallax and started murdering people left and right back in the early 90's.

Or, to use another example, it's kind of like how, in Frank Miller's All Star Batman and Robin, Bruce Wayne becomes the "God Damn Batman" who laughs like a maniac and tries to feed Dick Grayson rats.

I guess the gist of what I'm getting at is that a single person can take on drastically different personalities if they are written by many people.

Or it could just be because Fiona's a total bitch. XD For srs. Kin or no kin, when a character like that shows up in any fiction I read it inspires hatred.. cuz it's supposed to. There's really no two ways about it in this case. It's not like Fiona is showing any good traits at this point in time to which you'd give her the benefit of the doubt. You're meant to feel she desrved it -- the screen-caps above affirm that canonically. XD Does that make Jai more or less like Tails? No. You could say Jai's being like Sally if you look at it that way.

And as for Blaze comparing Fiona to other retcons/re-interps, fair enough, go ahead and love the old Fiona (I love the old Batman!) robot or otherwise. But it's the Fiona that double-crossed the FFs, used Sonic and smacked the shit out of Tails that's getting the hate here. You're not meant to like her, and at this point, you're not meant to believe there's anything redeemable left to her.
