The Sonic fanbase disappoints me. Again.

Who CARES if Sonic has green eyes or if Robotnik is called Eggman? It's still Sonic 4! Jeez, I'm as 'classic fanboy' as you can get, but some people are just unappeasable. How can you 'hate' this game already from 3 seconds of trailer?

To address a couple of issues -

The game, as mentioned in interview, is meant to be what a classics game would look like if made today. Sonic's black eyes were the simplest design for a simple age of minimum resolution. Today, he would be more detailed. That's just a given.

As for Eggman, although I prefer the name Robotnik, Eggman WAS his original name in the Japanese. Robotnik as his 'real' name is actually more of a retcon than Eggman is/was.

The homing attack. Not my favourite, but come on... ALL the classic games introduced a new move/ability. Isn't it better to 'introduce' the homing attack in this game than to produce a new move that would then be mysteriously absent from chronologically following games?

Sonic's running could be tweaked, I agree. I miss the spinny legs too. BUT, this may well be early beta footage that we're seeing, and not tweaked and refined... so Sonic's awkward gait may well be very much fixed by the Summer release.

Have I addressed all the gripes? Oh yeah, and downloadable episodes is COOL and FUN. I like to hold a box in my hand too, but hey, this is more suspenseful and makes the game last longer!

I still hope to see Tails and Knuckles at least make cameo appearances, if not in Episode One, then in later instalments. But it does sound like a solo Sonic experience, so who knows?

BRING IT ON, SEGA! ♥
