All my posts lately have been about the new Sonic games ^^;
I'm really liking the look of Wild Fire(and not just because I'm a rabid Nintendo fanboy >.>;) so far. It's much more up my street. It's colorful, energetic-looking, and seems just... well... fun! It's not heavy like the other Next Gen game. Each to their own, but I like my gaming to be lighthearted and not take itself too seriously. That's what the Sonic fandom always was to me. Fast, fun, and a little bit off the wall. Not that there's no depth... 'cause of course even the earliest Sonic games were still serious to a point. I mean, 'Buttnik was trapping innocent little forest critters inside ugly killing-machines >/ Bad Eggman, bad! But ya'nno, the games themselves weren't angsty. They were colorful and wacky with awesomely catchy music and just an overall timeless sense of FUN. I guess I just tend to shy away from games that look steeped in angst. (I'm also a little miffed that Silver is the 4th playable character in Rivals, since he hasn't even established himself yet - I would have rather seen Blaze as the final rival, but she was only in a Nintendo title, so I guess it's fairly obvious why a Sony game didn't choose to feature her).
This is all totally opinion based. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for others, and vice-versa. But I have to say I'm extremely happy that Nintendo has the game I want, because if it had been the other way around, I'd have been royally peeved ^^; And I don't care if the Wii's graphics are slightly inferior to the other next gen consoles. Graphics alone do not a masterpiece make. I was a little iffy about the Wii-mote (blame ONM for the name XD) at first, because when Nintendo push boundaries, they REALLY push boundaries... and their quest for innovation could backfire on them REALLY badly one day ^^; But from what I've seen so far (and the reviews I've read), most people seem rather impressed, and if the new system is as easy and natural to use as they say, then maybe even sceptics will be converted if they just give it a go.
Oh yeah, and the graphics will almost certainly be improved... after all, the majority of Wii game demos on show at E3 were created within a limited time period, and using a games development kit confined to GameCube graphic capabilities at best. Wii development kits would be available shortly after E3, accorning to ONM. We shall see ^^

Edit: Other Nintendo/E3 news that makes Jai happy
Yoshi's Island 2
Yep, I'm a YI nut. I have the game on SNES, GBA, and emulated. Yoshi rocks! And he looks so much better in 2D >.> And they're all different colors, like a rainbow tootifroot mix! ^^ Yoshi! ... so yeah, a sequel can ONLY be good. That was colorful and fun playtforming at its best... I loved the crayon-like backgrounds and the chunky solid foregrounds. Yoshi's Island remains one of my all-time favorite games ever ^_^
Starfox DS
Starfox... another of my obsessions. Even named my cats after the main character and his (comic-verse) girlfriend. 'Though Falco was always my favorite character. And I still intend to get a custom-built Arwing one day to go alongside my F-16 Falcon and my Tornado-styled bi-plane (something like the Polikarpov I-153 Chaika) in my own personal aircraft hangar which I'll also someday have :P
Smash Bros. 3rd-party negotiations
Still a chance for Sonic and co to be playable in the Wii's upcoming Smash Bros. game... 'though how much d'ya wanna bet if he is, it'll be him and Shadow who are in it? >P (Wouldn't mind too much if Tails and Knux were in there too ^^)
I'm sure there's more, but that alone is enough to make Jai a very cheerful Ninty-fan right now ^^
Edit 2: Just watched the 'movie' on the new Smash Bros. website and it looks SWEET! Even if Sonic and co don't make the final cut, I am still hyped as heck ^_^
Edit 3: Judging from the display board in the E3 photos, it looks like good ol' Knux has been replaced by Silver in the promotional art for Rivals. Seems they're REALLY on a Sonic/Shadow/Silver "three hedgehogs" kick right now x.o Kinda superfluous... do we need TWO new games with an emphasis on those three? (Yes, you knew there'd be a gripe in this post eventually :P)
