Filesharing and BIOS tweaking
Oct. 28th, 2010 08:09 pm(Jei's not going to go back to The Moon In The Square tonight with Miles, which I'm grateful for, but now I feel kinda mean and selfish for telling her I want her to stay. I just wanted this evening with her after missing out last night. But eh, Miles seems totally unbothered and Jei was totally fine about it too so I guess it's okay. I have to stop blowing things out of proportion - but am I really so weird for being kinda 'huhhh?' over my 'evil twin' and my fiancée getting along so well? Maybe. I should be glad they're not fighting, at least, even if my jealousy spikes every time Jei says she likes Miles or that she'd miss him if he ever went away for good :P I'm only human after all.
I am going to shut up about it now, though. *Slaps self, everyone cheers* ^^;)
So anyway, on a different topic - in the light of LimeWire's sudden legal takedown and demise, I was wondering if anyone knows of any other good P2P music filesharing services? I relied on LW a lot for obscure/unreleased/unavailable/unsigned material and now it is gone ): Any suggestions, guize?
I also have some questions about using BIOS settings to 'turbo' a laptop's clock speed up from the base GHz setting. Anyone know much about doing that? I'm not really a hardware person or experienced with firmware beneath the OS, but I was looking at a laptop that is slower than mine (at 2.2GHz compared to my 2.4) but can be 'turbo' up to 2.8. The rest of the laptop's specs are way above mine (8GB RAM compared to my 4GB, 1.5TB HDD compared to my 750GB etc), but the base clock speed is lower - unless rigged by BIOS. They advertise the fact openly and say that tweaking the BIOS to up the speed won't affect warranty, but of course they won't tell me how to do it or if it's easy enough for an intermediate user like me to do without farking things up too much. Is it something I could potentially do to my own current lappy without buying a new one? Of course that would be the best. But I don't wanna kill my baby. He's a couple years old already and I love 'im to bits.... So, uh, is 'turbo' basically the same thing as overclocking? Generally is it harmful? I do have a cooler, but I dunno if that's enough to prevent too much component degradation. Advice?*
*Don't laugh too much at me throwing around terms like a n00b and probably getting shit wrong ;_; I AM TRYING WITH WHAT LITTLE I KNOW.
