I went to the helichopper museum today n.n It was fun. Lots of awesome hoptercopters, some which you could look around inside, and all the parts too... engines, gearboxes, rotary mechanisms... some 'copters have like 56 different dials and about 150 switches XD; Not the best if you like mainly simple controls... but awesome if you like lots of shiny things to look at. Also the different sizes are like whoa... some are small enough to fit in your livingroom, and others are... @_@ Yeah. I didn't really know much about choppers before, so it was an eye-opener and really interesting,
BUT.
Guess what?! In the gift shop... I FOUND BIPLANE STUFF!! Granted most of the shop was hopter-related, or at least related to rotary aircraft, but they had some stuff relating to jets and light aircraft... and BIPLANES :D
( BIPLANE STUFF!! That I bought e.e )
The postcard features a painting of a Fairey Swordfish in flight over the ocean. They date back to 1936 and were in service until 1945, most famous for their role in the naval strike on Taranto. Gorgeous, isn't it?
The miniature model biplane is a Sopwith Camel, one of WWI's most effective and well-known fighter aircraft. I've wanted a li'l model biplane for the longest time, eee!
The DIY wooden model is supposed to be a Curtiss Goshawk. It was one of the less successful of the Curtiss 'hawk' series (and one of the only biplanes in the series), and it seems that the model kit sucks as much as the plane did :P Ah well, kinda expect it for £1.99. I'm keeping it for the box, though n.n Until I can get a decent model biplane kit.
And LOOK! Teddy bear! And he's wearing a Biggles flight jacket, scarf, and leather flight cap and goggles! ^____^ His name is Peter the Pilot, according to his The Teddy Bear Collection tag. He was only £2.99, so I HAD to snap him up.
I also got a full-length mirror from Dunelm Mill on the way back, since I didn't yet have a mirror for my room n.n; Now I can have contests to try to outstare myself :D Or just use it to make sure I don't forget to put pants on before I go out or something.
Anyway, isn't it cool that I found biplane stuff??!! ... what I really want though is a big biplane poster for my wall ;_; Now THAT would make my day ^_^ Maybe I'll find one in a bargain bin somewhere someday.
'Til I make you take me on your mighty wings
Make you take me on your mighty wings across the sky
Take me on your mighty wings
Take me on your mighty wings tonight
