Oct. 17th, 2006 11:10 amOmigosh, has it really been 5 days since I last updated? ^^; Whoopsie. Well, I have an excuse. Kinda. Can I just say I've been dead? Dead dead dead. I'm still pretty much dead, actually, but I'm motivating myself to write, because five days is too long for Jai to be away from LiveJournal. ::Poses a la Team Rocket:: I do this for the people, so that they may mourn my absence no longer! ... okay, so actually I'm just bored and I can't sleep anymore x.o
Sooo... yeah. I'm sick. I've been lucky until now; everyone else seemed to be succumbing to colds and flu and all the usual end-of-year nasties. I guess it was simply my turn :P I managed to dose up on paracetamol and decongestants enough to get through Sunday without seeming too sick (since that's when Leon visited), but since then it took a step up to become one of those uber-colds, you know the type - streaming nose, cough that keeps you up all night, sinus headache, general feeling of malaise :P Yuck. It's just a cold, so I'm trying not to complain too much, but I feel pretty crappy right now XD At least I've been granted permission to stay at home andfeel sorry for myself rest instead of doing my Sociology class. I can go in later today, or tomorrow even, and pick up my assignment for half-term (which is actually two weeks here, instead of the one week I'm used to in London n.n; Whoo!).
So anyway, I saw Leon on Sunday ^^ It was pretty cool. I showed him my collection of Sonic stuff, which, while not being the biggest collection ever, is bigger than most ^^ He seemed pretty impressed. Then we played Kingdom Hearts for a bit, which was my first time ever playing it, as I don't have a PS2 (he brought his over). It looks like a decent game. If I ever pick up a 2nd-hand PS2 on the cheap, I'll definitely get that game. Then we had lunch (my mom made a really nice Sunday roast), and Leon took a couple pictures of my collection of stuff XD I love my stuff. I'd have even more if I could finance it. So, that was about it really. He was only here for a few hours. But it was cool. Nice to meet an online friend :)
Thanks to Puri for reminding me about it, I decided to sign up for NaNoWriMo. As you can see from the pretty participation icon below and in my profile:
I need a proper challenge like this to get me writing, and since fanfiction is permitted (anything goes as long as it's a 'novel'), it's the perfect excuse to get some fic-writing underway! 50,000 words seems like a lot, but it's not really. The RP Jei and I are doing is already more than 170,000 words in length. I'd say it's nearer 200,000 words, if you include the latest round (which I don't have added to my log) and all the bits that are missing from having been scrolled out before they could be pasted into the log file. So, that means I've written round about 100,000 words in the RP alone, and we don't even RP that often (there's huge gaps in between each session XD like... months, sometimes). The RP log stands at about 240 pages in Word, font size 10. It's a lot. So... if I work hard, I reckon I can get a 50,000 word fic done in a month, no prob. That, or I'll sit there staring blankly at the screen for 3 weeks and 6 days, then write about a paragraph in time for the closing bell x.o Either way, if it gets me writing at all, that's something ^^
I got a gift in the mail from Jei-ji! It says not to open 'til tomorrow, so I guess I have to wait >.> Looks like it's edible though XD ::Hides box so as to resist temptation:: Yep yep... my birthday tomorrow o.o Figures I've got this cold x.o Oh well. It kinda sucks that I won't get to do what I was gonna do for my birthday this week, which was rock-climbing, abseiling and caving. I guess it'll just have to postpone 'til next week. But as long as I get to do it, it's all good ^^
x.o Gah, I'm gonna cough up my lungs in a minute. Time for honey and lemon, honey and lemon, honey and lemooon. Because it's soothing and nice, dammit!
