It is done! I have a lower back tattoo. Behold!







The pic doesn't do it justice :( Kinda hard to photograph a tattoo on my own back. In reality, the colour of the tails is far less green. It's actually a lovely yellow/orange. And my skin is not jaundiced. Pic quality is naff too; shoulda waited for Jei to get back so she could take a better one, but I was too impatient. So there it is o.o

It sounds odd coming from fraidy-cat li'l old me, but I really wasn't nervous at all going there. I guess just 'cause I wanted it so much. The actual process was... difficult but bearable. The black ink outline was easily the least painful part. It stung slightly, but it didn't feel much worse than deep fingernail scratching. The preliminary shading stung a fair bit more, but still wasn't terrible. But the final color was pretty painful. I mean, gritting my teeth and digging my nails into my arm while chanting "oww oww oww" internally painful. But even so, it was tolerable. There wasn't any point during the process where I felt the need to pull away or ask her to stop. In total, it took about 2 hours? I have to take care of it for a week or so, naturally, with cream and stuff... and she said that it will probably start to itch around day 5. But would I do it again if I felt drawn to having another one done? Definitely.

I think it's really cool regardless of whether the inspirational may or may not have come from a video game. Video games are an art form not much different from other forms in my opinion, so I'm not sure why people would think it 'sad' because it is just 'a game' ^^

Oh dude, I hadn't seen the actual design on it ahead of time (I missed it somewhere, I'm sure. XP) but it's a lovely design! I like the little swirly tips on the tails. XD

I've been wanting to get a Sonic related tattoo since I was... well honestly? Since Sonic & Knuckles. The logo was what I wanted to get as a tattoo forEVER. Sadly, I never worked up the nerve nor the money. Even still, to this day, I kind of wish I had done it. They say 'Give yourself a year to think about it. Because it's permanant.' and here I am, seventeen years later, and I STILL want the dang thing. XD

To be honest, I never thought I'd get up the guts to have it done, either. But then I just kinda got obsessed with the idea to the point where my need to have it done overrode any fear I had XD

Oh, and I don't think I ever posted up the design. Would have been interesting to get some opinions on it ahead of the deed though!

I actually think I've gotten to that point, myself, but unfortunately tattoos really aren't cheap. XD And alas! I have to be a responsible mommy. 8|

Which is why I'm wishing I'd spent the money on it back when I COULD afford to throw $150-$200 at somebody for it. XD Ah well!

It looks much better than I'd originally anticipated. I'd been expecting it to look bright and cartoonish...but I'd also been expecting it to look pretty static and unmoving. I'm pleased to say that the final product looks like it's coming alive.

That's... wow, it's really nifty looking. I love that unlike a lot of gaming related tattoos, it isn't an obvious rehash of existing generic art; it fits so much better as a tattoo like this, and it really does have a brilliant looking design in its own right. Wouldn't need to be a Sonic fan to appreciate it at all... and even in the low quality pic looks like it was well done!

Congraaaats :D And oh, I really want a small tattoo when I'm older but the pain always put me off... interesting to hear your experiences. Maybe I'll get some sort of line only one XD

I think the color hurt worst because it was over the top of the 'soft' (greyscale) shading... The outline was by far the easiest part ^^;
