I figured that there's quite a few people on my friendslist, especially newer friends, who don't know what I look like. I guess it really isn't all that important, but I know that sometimes people like to be able to have an idea of what the person they're talking to on the other end physically looks like. (Also, if I don't do this, I will end up never archiving any photos of mysef, ever D: Because I never think to take/store photos).
