Last straw
Nov. 4th, 2008 05:52 pmI spent the night in A&E last night. Finally discharged at around 8.30am after being admitted at 2.15am.
I took an overdose, following a screaming row with 'that girl' in my flat. I hadn't slept for 48 hours after pulling off an all-nighter previously to get my assignment done. I just wanted sleep. Stupid brat wouldn't shut up. So I challenged her, but her friend was there too and they basically verbally ripped me apart. "This is halls, get used to it! We can do what we want!" They wouldn't shut up. I wanted sleep.
So I downed all of my remaining Temazepam and most of my Cipralex in a fit of desperation. And then I panicked and dialled 999. Ambulance arrived very quickly. The paramedics kept telling me to sit up in the ambulance because I kept slumping forward.
At the A&E they made me drink a cup of charcoal. My tongue is still black. I was wandering around the little room in a daze, feeling the walls, opening the cupboards and trying to climb up onto the window ledge. I tried to walk out a few times but they herded me back in. They took 4 vials of blood from my arm, did a finger prick blood sugar test, and checked my heart rate.
Then they wheeled me into another ward with heart monitors because my heart rate was apparently too slow and they needed to monitor me. My blood sugar was low too, so they had to keep doing the finger prick test and made me drink some sugary juice. They kept me hooked up to a heart monitor for a good few hours until my stats returned to normal.
Then I had to speak to someone from the crisis team, who got in touch with my ALN coordinator. And finally I was discharged and stumbled to the bus stop to get a bus home.
Having not slept in 3 days, I slept from about 9.30am - 4.00pm. Then Jei came over and she's gone to get me some food.
I'm fine.
