Why, LJ? ):

Sooo... LiveJournal is planning to revamp the comments page - including removing comment titles.

Yeah. I try not to bitch about the changes that LJ makes because in the end it's usually not a big deal and easy enough to adjust to. However, I can't help thinking that it's a bad move, this time. Nearly 500 comments already on the News post, and not a single agreement or approval.

I know that RP communities, kink memes, and long discussion threads in general (particularly those with 'trigger'/NSFW content) will suffer.

Eh, I'm annoyed. I don't even use comment titles that much myself, but I do see how they're useful and I don't like how LJ never seems to run any of their bright ideas by their userbase before implementing them (in this instance, we were just told that a new comments page is coming, and it took other users digging around on the Russian site to find out what that entailed).

I'm not going to huff off and leave over it or anything, but it annoys me, especially since I've been a paid user for a decade or so.

I did have some other stuff to update on but bleh. Later maybe.

For the subject lines!

Eh, too bad. I was going to ask you if you were on Dreamwidth.

I do have a DW account which is my back-up if I ever do leave LJ. Same username as here (:

McGee: I'm also going with, "Simple, LJ's dumb."

Aw man, that does suck if there is going to be a trigger or NSFW warning.

Yeah. I just don't see why they would remove that feature. Sure, not everyone uses them, but a lot of people and groups do, for lots of varied reasons :\

MY COMMENT TITLE! *CLINGS*

I tend to use comment titles when the topic of discussion could be triggering or TMI for some; I know that some people on my friends list are sensitive to certain things and I don't want to hurt or depress anyone, especially since I know how it feels to innocently read something and wind up getting triggered because I wasn't warned . . . I really hope LJ reconsiders this and allows us to keep them . . . ; ;

As do I :\ So far, there are almost 700 comments in protest of the move on the News article, but I don't have much faith in them paying any heed. It's kind of a dick move.

Not cool. ;_;

I'll miss the comment titles!

Especially because some of the funniest side-conversations (or almost all out-of-character conversations in character journals!) go in comment titles! ;_;

As for warnings and the like... ooh, it would be harder to make effective warnings without some knowledge of HTML to make the text for the warning bigger and maybe rendering the potentially triggering content invisible by changing the colour.

Maybe we should all make pretend-comment titles by just writing in really big text at the beginning of our comments. ^^;;;

XD Your icon scares me.

But yeah, it would make things a whole lot more difficult and inconvenient :\ No one's happy about it, as far as I can see. Yet they'll probably go ahead and implement it anyway ^^;

I felt it was appropriate! But, it was either that one or this one.

;_;

Noooo.
