Fara

Fara (my tortoiseshell cat) has been losing weight like crazy and not eating... since the last scare with her weird behaviour, we thought she was okay, but we realized she'd started deteriorating rapidly lately. So we took her to the vet.

She has a huge and aggressive malignant tumour in her stomach. The vet gave her some steroids to help her feel better for the next couple weeks, but after that she'll start to deteriorate again... and eventually she'll just waste away. So, to save her from suffering, Fara will be put to sleep on Tuesday May 9th at 5:30pm.

That gives me two weeks with her before we do the kindest thing for her.

She's only six years old ._.

We had to put down one of our kitties, Misty, in November for a similar reason. She was eight. I was on the other side of the world, and it happened the same time as my 21st birthday. :(

Get lots of cuddles in. You're doing the right thing. I'm so, so sorry. :(

Oh geez...it's a shame that she needs to be put to sleep. Best wishes to you and the rest of the family, poor Fara ;_;

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's tough, but at least you can sort of prepare for her passing. Six is young, I know how it is, I lost a dog at 7 years old. We didn't have warning, she passed away from kidney failure.

Aww... ;-; Fara! Y'know, if it's pronounced as I think it is (fa-RAH) in Arabic, it would mean happiness... or wedding. Just randomly wanted to mention that.
Always found it cute that your kitty's name is happiness. xD

At least ya've got two weeks. ^^;
